jury duty last thread on this

I'm still debating if it would be worth it to show my registration that i'm still in school and get a postponement or to just chance it and hope to get dismissed and not have to serve for another 6 years.

I heard at first that school isnt considered as a valid excuse anymore but then found out from someone i used to work with who still works in deans office that school is a valid excuse thatthey still write letters for students.

Anyone ever be able to get dismissed from jury duty for still being in school and for how long were you able to? was it just 6 months or until graduation?

They asked if anyone wanted to donate blood so I did. When I was done they stamped me and said see ya in 6.

Re: jury duty last thread on this

i got requested about 2 or 3 summers ago... i was working full time and doing my masters at night/late afternoon... it would have been impossible for me to serve, plus i would have lost a ton of money at work... so i sent them a super stressed out letter with copies of my schedule- both school and work, and explained how much money i would loose and then not be able to pay my bills and how it was an awful time... i havent heard from them since...

I had Jury Duty last week-so I did massive research on it! You can get out of it if you are a full-time student. But, you have to show a copy of your schedule-I don't know if you are going in the summer or not, but if you aren't, you have to serve! It really wasn't that big of a deal. You go, you get an hour and a half lunch(to go shopping at the outlets...if you are in riverhead!!) go back, and go home! What number are you...because you may just not even have to go at all?!?! JMO-but I would go and get it done with and not have to worry about it. If you postpone it for school, I believe they will not serve you until you are done with school all together! But, then you may have to give up a day at a new job!!!
