Just a question but how many of you think that there are more multiple personalities than we know of on these boards? Of course sometimes people may want to go under an alias when it is something very, very personal (quite understandably and ok to do so) or to keep out of a fight bc some of us have become acquainted with others... and that's ok. But I've just been looking through the boards and posts and am starting to think that there are these weird personalities out there and it's kinda freaky! People who all of a sudden KNOW the boards and know so much history... to be a lurker? I don't know... just have some free time today I guess and it's weirding me out.

Re: Just a general question...
I never really thought about it, but I think it's entirley possible to lurk enough to get a feel for the boards without posting. One of my friends sort of did that. She would post once in a great while but would check in daily to see what's going.

If they want to create a name and do that, more power to them. As long as they are not insulting or hurting anyone. I did not notice. If they want to post under another name, I guess they have their reasons.

Tammy if they post, by definition they are not lurkers Just joking - I know what you mean. I thought she was referring to people with low post counts that are familiar with the boards.

Re: Just a general question...
christine - i too have a lurking friend who doesnt wanna get involved but that thinks the boards are veryu helpful. we all have turned someone on to liw at one time or another. but then you'll get like someone who comes out of the woodworks and that'll know a little TOO much about you or situations in general. when you're a lurker, i dont think you get a real sense of people and 'study' them... more poke around for wedding advice and ideas... but dont really bother with people's personal lives... jmo im just weirded out that people are so funky like that!

Re: Just a general question...
I've known people to do that on other sites, but mostly to flame people. I can't imagine why anyone would do that, unless they need to vent about something and are afraid of revealing too much info or if they need to b*tch about FH, but know that he looks here, too. My philosophy - if you've got something nasty to say to someone, have the balls to use your regular name or keep your trap shut!

Re: Just a general question...
true, I don't understand that. What's the point of making a big stink if you are not actively involved in the community, just move on.
But there are days when you can't help but notice the BS that goes on around here (knock on wood, it's been pretty quiet the past couple of months).

Re: Just a general question...
I guess some things are noticed more than other things, I guess that is not something that I would notice. As long as they don't use my name all is well.
Who does it really affect when someone creates another name and post under, no one

Re: Just a general question...
it may not harm anyone but its stupid ---its as if the person would rather say something negative under a new name then their own but when the same words and icons are used, people that have been around here a long time can pick up on it easily

Re: Just a general question...
who really cares?
Maybe the people do it because when some speak their true feelings, they get bashed? Dunno just a thought.

Re: Just a general question...
i obviously CARE if i started the post!!!! why so defensive???????? i dont think anyone should have multiple identities in a community as this where people try and form bonds with one another. it's one thing to post under an alias one time... to share your feelings or disappointments or whatever that is too personal you feel... but another to 'try' to be another person / charachter and post under that name frequently. that is just NOT RIGHT! u guys know who you are. it's very deceiving and shouldn't be used as a way to pry info or manipulate drama. all i am saying is be careful for whom you THINK you are talking to.... or is talking to YOU! there's alot of weirdos out there that you would NEVER think would act like such a child!
