After thinking about my wedding, I have came up with the conclusion, it is the same as the next and I am looking for something different. I am changing the wedding to a themed wedding, but need to change my reception site.
Does anyone know a place that is just a hall that is rented? An open room, where for the most part are able to do what you want?

Re: Just a hall?
Depending on your budget / size of your wedding... You could look into a really nice K of C type hall. The Elks Club in Lynbrook and the FIrehouse in Wantagh are both really nice.
I believe you can bring outside vendors into the vineyards (but this is usually tented) and also museums... possibly the cradle of aviation, too?

Depends what type of hall youre looking for...You can do K of C...Or you can also rent out a loft, theres so many in the city, penthouse on 5th ave is also very nice with a great view of the city, the foundry, but i dont know what your budget is or exactly what you are looking for.

Re: Just a hall?
An 05 bride, Maple_tea rented out a barn in Smithtown and I know there is also one in Queens. Another bride cloddy had her wedding at a KoC in Oceanside
I found that Timber Point was a great place to decorate as nothing was too overbearing in that place. Old Field was a gorgeous location as well.
Thank you ladies for your input. I am just at a spot right now, where I feel like the hall I have does not represent my fiance and me.
I like the barn Idea.. That could be really cool. I am going to look into these suggested places.
Thank you again!

If you like the barn idea....you should def check out Queens County Farm. My daughter just booked it for Oct. However, Since it is a working farm, the animals will be out. Which is what she wanted. It's very resonable. You have to bring in your own caterer, which can be as expensive or inexpesive as you like. Brush Barn in Smithtown is nice, but they have alot of restrictions and you have clean the barn before and after your party. Just something to consider.

Also look into studio spaces in the city--if your budget permits. Peter White Studios, Splashlight, etc--basically just white walls, but usually gorgeous views.

not sure exactly what youre looking for. check out my review of coindre hall. you can rent it out and bring everything in separately.
you may also want to check with phillip stone caterers (i think i have their info in my review as an alternative to who we used) - they caterer out of many locations so they might be able to match you to something that's representative of you and you fh.
feel free to fm me if you have any questions.

Molloy College has a nice room that u can just pay a flat fee for, FH knows someone who had their reception there and the pics looked nice. there is a pic online somewhere i will post it if i find it. it is a very good price i think. you bring in your own catering, etc.
