Just a little advice for those who haven't ordered invites yet...

When you pick wording for response cards make sure you get one that says ___ number of guests.

Mine said M____________________
______Declines with regret
______Accepts with pleasure

Well I invited some of my friends that I am not too close with 'with guest'... Now they are responding and just putting their name and accepts.. I don't know if they are bringing a guest or not. I don't wanna call them up and say.. 'Soooo you got a boyfriend?.. Ohh No, then I guess you will be alone at my wedding'..

Kind of ***** so now I need to call other mutual friends and get the gossip on whether or not they are single or bringing a guest.

I mean some friends have written thier name and thier boyfriends name..... So I guess if they were bringing a guest they would do that.. but who knows.

ETA--BTW.. so far 49 people are coming!! Only 7 cards came back with No.

Why wouldn't you just call those people directly who you are unsure of? Even if you're not super close with them, it's not other people might give you the incorrect answer.

see and the girl i used for the inviations told me NOT to let the guests write in how many were coming!!!! She said people feel this is their free reign to put down however many people they want. I agree with your argument though....maybe I should change it?

I could but the situation is that some of these people I sent save the dates to a while ago.. Like last summer and since them haven't seen them or talked to them. (I tend to see people a lot more over the summer ) I even debated not inviting them but since I sent a save the date.. I had to. SO it would be really weird for me to call. Actually she just moved and I don't even have her new number. I have a friend who is really reliable and would just call her and casually chat about the wedding and ask whether or not she is bringing someone.

Weddings do bring about some wierd situations.

I ordered mine the same way you did. We were thinking of doing it with number of guests but I too was worried about people just writing in people that weren't invited. I think most people are smart enough to write and guest... but there's always an exception!!

That stinks, but I understand. Maybe you could send her an email asking her? If not, send the friend in.
