What's so great about Nassau besides being close to the city if you work there? I was born in and lived in Elmont until I was 8 and then moved to suffolk, so I mainly remember living here! Everyone I talk to says they want to move to Nassau and I just don't get it! I don't mean to knock it, that is not my intention, I am just wondering why? sorry if I offended anyone! There are such beautiful homes in nassau, but also here in suffolk!
PS- I just had to add, a girl at work grew up in Nassau and told me that she'd NEVER live in suffolk, only Nassau! I think that's why I am so interested!

Closer to the city. Closer to things in general. Houses are worth more on average. More opportunities for employment.

I grew up in Nassau and loved growing up there. But it's become too congested for me. It would be one thing if we could afford a place near the beach or someplace where the homes were more spread out.
I came home from visiting DH's family in Wisconsin and I decided that I wanted space and quiet. The towns in Nassau we can afford don't have that. If I didn't work in the Bronx and DH didn't work in Westchester we would have looked in Suffolk. My brother lives in Lindenhurst and I love his neighborhood.
My friends who have chosen to buy in Nassau have done so mainly because of proximity to Manhattan and their jobs. And they all bought before the prices REALLY skyrocketed.

We have to live in Nassau because DH's business is in Nassau and he drives into the city, westchester, and NJ. I don't love all of Nassau but I LOVE were we are moving, Malverne. It reminds me of Suffolk sort of.
I don't want to sound snobby either when I say this but to me Nassau always seemed more upper class. Not that it always is but that is the impression I always got growing up. Nassau always had a different stereotype then Suffolk.
I grew up in Suffolk, BTW

When I first mey my husband I swore I would never move to suffolk but here I am moving to Huntington. For me it was because I'm a city girl Manhatten was always 20 minutes away. If you need to go out of state or upstate you don't have to drive an hour just to get to the bridge, Plus all my friends family and job are in nassau. I felt like suffolk was so far away that I may as well live in another state. Yes I know all my reasons may sound a little silly. But it waws the way I felt.
