Check into Yum Kippur weekend (Fri sept 17-Sat sept 18)

If your catholic and looking to save money then this is great.
Why you ask...

The holiday is sat but starts friday night soo....
- less traffic friday evening because public schools are closed, colleges are 1/2 days, and a lot of people leave work early.
-Anyone who is Jewish is not having their wedding that day and there are no Bat or Bar Mitzvah's that day (which may surprise you but there are more of them in 1 weekend then weddings)
- Vendors availability is MUCH better therefore they may be able to work out a better deal for you since it's a dead weekend.
(the dj company i work for usually has about 15 parties a weekend. But that weekend there are 0)
-reception halls might be willing to work with you too since it's a dead weekend.

just some heads up

Just as a side note, any friends / coworkers you may be inviting that are jewish will most likely not be able to make it to your wedding. Yom Kippur is a very holy holiday and jewish people (who follow the religion) will be fasting.

I agree if you have any jewish friends they wont be able to attend. That is why I changed my date from the 19th to the 12th.

FYI - Rosh Hashanna is that weekend (not as holy as YK, but Jewish ppl prob. would not come).

Yom Kippur is 9/27

That is an interesting idea... How much cheaper are you finding those days?

umm a good amount depending on how you word it.

I went to 13 different halls and only 2 actually already had A party booked that entire weekend. (Glen Island Harbor Club in New Rochelle and N.Ritz)

They are just more willing to be flexable because they know it's not the easiest weekend to sell.
More likely they'll throw stuff in and come down a little on the p/person and min.

My cousin got married Easter weekend a few years ago and he got a great deal! We are Hindu and most of the attendees were HIndu as well so it wasn't a problem.
