Just back from Connecticut...

We went back to the inn in Connecticut where we're considering doing our wedding weekend, and we still love it! Brought my mom and sister for second opinions and they fell in love with it too. They couldn't come up with one thing they didn't like about the place. And we talked with the owner about logistics and stuff, and the kind of wedding we want is tailor-made for this place. We'd have the rehearsal dinner there, in a tent in the backyard, and then a bonfire that night. People would play in the Berkshires the next morning while the wedding party got ready, and the ceremony/reception would be in the afternoon and evening. That night, we'd have the pub on the premises all to ourselves for an afterparty. And the next morning, we would have breakfast in the inn's sunroom. It's all so cute! And the inn would be ours for the weekend - the party could spill out into any area of the inn - if the older people didn't feel like partying in the pub, they could sit in the cozy living room on couches and have drinks by the fire there, for examples. Here, let me show it off.

The exterior:


The dining room (very plain, but we saw pictures of it done up with white and green flowers to match the walls, and lots of candles, and it can be so pretty. Oh, and those chairs would be GONE.)


These stairs go to the living room of the inn. We'd come down them when we made our big entrance for the first time as Mr. & Mrs.!


My mom and sis on the ceremony space. Try to picture it greener, like it would be in the spring. It's right in front of the inn.

Thanks, girls! We didn't book it yet because the innkeeper is going to write us a formal proposal. We asked for a (mostly) vegetarian menu, and he has to go over options with the chef, and will get back to us with what stuff should cost. But it's all very informal - we can change stuff around as we get new ideas, we can rent none of the rooms out for the guests or all of them, we can have th cocktail hour on the wraparound porch or in the tent in the back or in the pub... I love how there are so many options and that we can change our minds about them 10 times before the big day.

The innkeeper was surprised, actually, that we're booking so far ahead. We're only the second couple he's seen enquiring about 2008! I told him us Long Island girls work fast.
