just bathed my dog and...

she had fleas!!! a lot of em too! or at least I think they were fleas...but I haven't noticed her scratching and I gave her a once over the other day and didn't notice anything. I just bathed her with antibacterial soap and oatmeal anti flea and tick shampoo and put the zodiac flea and tick control on her, shaved her hair short and picked out any bugs i saw while bathing and grooming her. my poor baby!!!

You should always be taking precautionary measures. Try advantix -- it works great.

Make sure to disinfect the whole house or you will NEVER get rid of them.

If you are not sure what they are call the vet.

My roommates cat had fleas. It was gross because she considered this normal and didn't do anything about it but the poor thing was scratching all day. I went out and bought him one of those flea collars and it killed all the fleas, it worked really well.

I just looked up fleas online and I deff think they were fleas. I vacuumed the basement and couches, put bedding in the wash and am going to vacuum the front porch and mattresses (we have like a florida room front porch and its carpeted)

She's never had fleas before I'm so surprised.

Re: just bathed my dog and...

do you have your dog on any type of preventative meds?

I use sentinel and it's great....pricey but well worth it. It protects against fleas, ticks, heartworms, roundworms and other parasites.

These things are much easier to prevent than they are to treat.

Call your vet and look into it.

i don;t have her on any preventative meds...don't know if we can afford it. l don't trust vets...took my cat to one and she died...after spending over $1000 they still couldn't tell us ANYTHING about what went wrong with her.

Try Dr. Saslow in Baldwin -- he is a great vet. He is on Grand Ave. I drive 50 mins in to still take my dog to him.
