and i found out that the cake i want is too expensive.... the one that is included in our price has to be simpler.... sigh....
so i'm on the hunt for a back-up cake....

What I did with the same caterer was to cut out many, many magazine photos of cakes. I gave them a few choices and let them tell me which one they could do w/ in the per person price we had discussed when I booked the event. Honestly, I would have thought that the one that they decided to use would cost more. They told me that one of the other cakes that I loved would have added $4,000 to the bill. As it turns out, I think that my cake was more colorful and more noticeable.

I did that too..gave my florist and my caterer a cake pic from a magazine.
