Just came back from taking out my wisdom tooth...

I am so scared of the lidocaine wearing off - i really dont deal with pain to well - someone please tell me it wont be too bad -

yeah - he gave me some prescription pain killers - i'm definitely taking one before this numbness wears off!

i was at the mall the next day

I hada wisdom tooth pulled a few years back. Best dental experince of my life.
I was unconcius for the whole thing!!!
But the recovery was a breeze.
If you swell easily, put ice on your face now to prevent that.
But it was more gross with the gauze and blood than painful.
Hopefully the meds they gave you will make you sleepy.

I had all 4 wisdom teeth taken out at once. I don't remember having any pain at all. (And I am a huge baby when it comes to pain.) What did freak me out though was the blood; you may have a little bit of bleeding for a day or two - just to warn you. It wasn't that big a deal, I just wish that someone had told me what to expect.

I think it is vicoprofrin -

The surgeon didnt put me under general anesthesia but did have to give me 5 vials of lidocaine - I told him i need a lot in order not to feel anything - he finally believed me at the end - it supposed to last for 8 hours - so so happy for that.

have someone go out and get you a Fribble from friendly's...the best thing the dentist asst could have told me...

and lots of apple sauce to eat...

don't overdue the RX pain killers...they can actually make your stomach upset, when combining with the aenestesia....so alternate with OTC painkillers

its going to be bad today...but it gets better...make sure you get babied!!!

I had all four of mine removed at the same time. They were impacted and one even was so hard to get to that they left a small portion of the tooth behind.

I had an IV put in my hand and was asleep for the whole thing. Woke up feeling alright and slept on the way home. Took my drug they told me to when I got home and used ice packs.

I don't remember it being that bad. Just sore like having your mouth open too long or chewing gum for too long. I had soft foods for a while.

Went in on a Friday afternoon and was at work by Monday Morning. I just REALLY REALLY hated those pockets that were left in my mouth. The stuff those pockets gathered was so gross. I guess my overall recovery was about a month from surgery to eating anything I wanted.

I was more afraid of the pain that anything and it ended up being a lot less painful than I thought. Then again I was expecting the worst.

Just my experience.

It really won't be that bad....I had mine done and I didn't touch the Vicodin that they gave me....just Advil.
Just drink plenty of fluids to prevent dry socket.

You should be ok. I had 3 wisdom teeth pulled in April and I was in pain for about 15 mintues after the anaestecia (spelling?) wore off, but I popped a painkiller and never felt pain again! Feel better! Don't listen to the horror stories that people might have told you - this type of surgery and the aftermath were really not bad.
