Just curious, 2 Questions.

Just curious, 2 Questions.

Question #1: Does a Reception Hall usually charge you full price per head for the vendor's you're feeding? Because they like.. wont' be drinking liquor (better not be!) and eating LOTS of cocktail hour food either, i'd hope, haha. Ya know?

Question #2: Who am I forgetting to tip the day-of?
1. Photographer's Assistant
2. 2nd Photographer
3. Videographer
4. Do I tip real photog if he's the owner?
5. The Matri'd
6. Hair artist
7. Make-up artist

Do I tip the DJ? That doesn't seem to make sense.. that's why I'm paying him. no?

Who else do you tip? Crapola, this is gonna be pricey...

-Yes Def the Bridal Attendant (big time tip for them!)
-any bar tenders! - my friend didn't realize there wouold be two on her day and she had to split the money between them- so ask how many you will have!
-And yes I think the DJ- especially if he is super good!
-any musicians
-Officiant

ETA: I think if someone is the owner you should offer- but they probably won't take it?

My hall told me that vendors and kids are 1/2 price.

As for tipping...

-If your hall includes gratuity (which I think most do) then you don't have to tip the bartenders because they are part of the 'wait staff'. However, you do have to tip the Matrie'd

-I think rule of thumb is that if the vendor is the owner you do not have to tip them but it is up to your discretion.

-I have read on several sites that you do not have to tip the Officiant.

Here is a link to a good tip worksheet from The Knot:

The word TIPS actually stands for : To Insure Proper Srevice.
I know we are all paying big $$$$ for our vendors & it really gets my a$$ that we need to tip these people on top of what we are paying them....HOWEVER the photo & video is all I'm going to have left from this wedding when it's over. Therefore I'm Tipping my photographer, assistant, & video early in the day ' To Insure Proper Service'

Re: Just curious, 2 Questions.

Tip the officiant?? I'm paying them $500+ for 20 minutes!!!

So, I'm definitely tipping:
Photo assistant
Bartenders if gratuity isn't included for them
hair/make-up artists
my maitre'd

I'm PAYING the DJ to sit there, flower delivery person isnt staying the whole wedding, officiant is already getting so much for a seriously short ceremony, limo driver isn't 'cooping' - it's just a pick-up and drop-off service...

Anyone that anyone is FLOORED i haven't mentioned? haha.. like, that is really WRONG not to tip beside the list above??

IMO i would tip the DJ. ESP if your not having a 1 man DJ/MC.

I've heard that if you feed vendors you don't HAVE To tip them. I'll be doing both though.

I've also heard that you don't tip your photographer/videographer the full amount at the end of the night. You give 1/2 then and 1/2 once you receive the final product.

oh and valet if it isn't included in ur package.

Good point regarding the DJ. Thank you :)

Re: Just curious, 2 Questions.

In my opinion a tip is NEVER required- it is a personal thing.

I personally think that good service deserves a good tip; even if you are already spending a lot of money with that particular vendor.

But...that's just me! I did depend on tips as a party hostess for 5 years so I may be a little jaded!
