how many months prior to the wedding are bridal showers usually thrown?

I think there is considerable range. Anything from 6 months to 6 Weeks before the wedding.

I think the standard time is 1-3 months before. Mine was a month before b/c any earlier would have been in the middle of the holidays.

I agree with 1-3 months. Mine is this coming weekend, and I'm getting married August 7, so it's about 2 months and a week before.

Mine was this past Saturday and I'm getting married on July 4th.

I have to be honest, between teaching school (crazy time of the year) and last minute wedding details I'm pretty swamped. My MOH wanted it in March but my FMIL wanted next weekend (Memorial Day).

I would suggest, if you can to have it no later than 6 weeks before.

There is such a range, I have been to ones being 6 months to 1 week to 1 day before! My NY shower was 4 months prior and my VA shower (next weekend) is one month before.

Mine was a little less than 4 months before. Mainly because everyone knew we had 2 weddings (for family) in June and July is a holiday weekend and August would have been cutting it close.

mine was in the end of Nov, and i got married in Feb (so mine was just under 3 months before). theres definately a pretty big range as to when it can be
