Just curious...Did anyone meet their FH ......?

ONLINE? I met my FH online 5 years ago. We met in a Chat room on aol. I lived in Texas and he lived in LOng Island. I never thought I would be meeting someone on the internet and at the time it wasn't as popular as it is today. I'd just moved to HOuston and didn't know a soul there other than my co-workers. So there I was with my new computer chatting away in AOL chat rooms. It was so new to me! Greg and talked for several months before we decided to meet. I came to visit him in NY. Yes, I did a background check. I really did. He didn't know it at the time. Ha Ha.

We met near Valentine's Day, which makes it appropriate that we will be getting married in February. I was so nervous that he was not going to meet me at the airport. But, there he was ...handsome as can be with a nice smile and sexy eyes. We had a very Romantic time in NY. We continued our long distance relationship for over a year when we decided that one of us had to make the move. Our phone bills and trips got really expensive I was in between jobs and decided that I would be the one to move here. And I absolutely loved NY! As popular as online dating is today, friends still get a kick out of it on how we met. I love Greg and I love Bill GAtes!

So LI Brides....I would like to hear your story?

We did not meet over the internet,, but we fell in love over the internet almost 6 years ago! We met in college, right as we were finishing finals...exchanged email addresses.....and kept in constant AOL Instant Messenger chat and phone chat for the entire summer....when college came around in the fall, we became inseperable..moving into our first apartment a year later, and now...planning a wedding!! Boy has the time flown!!

I met FH online.. but not the usual way!

Both FH and I are avid gamers (believe it or not we are NOT geeks LOL) We both play what is commonly referred to as MMPORPG -- video games ONLINE. You might have heard of Everquest-- well, we play games like that.

Anyway, our game characters met before we really did... we found out through chatting in the game that we lived a town apart here on LI!! That is amazing because I could have just as easily be speaking to somebody from California or even Europe! But, as luck would have it, we lived so close...

Game play moved to Instant messaging and email
-which moved to phone calls, and then the big date.

He picked me up at my house and we went pumpkin picking... we have been inseparable since!!

My FSIL met FBIL over the net... she did it wrong (IMO) though. They were talking over the computer for a couple weeks then she left her house, told her parents she was staying at a friends (they knew nothing about him) and drove 5 hours (to LI) to meet him. He could have been a freak and kidnapped her and no one would have known where she was!!!! DUH!!! BUT they fell in love and 8 months later they got married.

MIMS107, YOu are not a geek and if you are, SO AM I. LOL I used to be an avid scrabble player and I would chat and play with people from all over the world. So it looks as though you guys were meant for each....just a town away. I don't consider myself geeky. My friends might .LOL I may consider playing again. We still play other games online.

KPToys- My friends and family would tell me the same thing. What if he is really a she? What if he is murderer? Well, as we all know.....you could just as easily meet a murderer at a BAR. If you knew my sweetie, he wouldn't hurt a fly. Me on the other hand...that's a different story. (Just kidding)
I think I felt more comfortable knowing I did some type of check on him. He would get the same from his family about me....what if she is a he? Too funny. He calls me 'my email order bride ' LOL

Met my DH seven years ago this month in an AOL chat room. He IM'd me, then we talked on the phone and finally met after 4 months. We went on vacation together as friends, and when we returned home he finally asked me out on a date! We were married a little over 5 years after we met. I love Mr. Bill too!

Sure did in an online chat room for people from Queens.

I am glad I he was persistant because I kept giving him the brush off.

I literally had just gotten AOL and started venturing into chat rooms. My cousin was also on line and being new to the whole AOL thing I wanted to talk to her and kept telling him I would talk to him in a minute. He kept IMing me and after a while I appologized and finally started talking to him. IM's led to emails and phone calls and a first date. We've been inseprable since

I met a guy from NY at a conference out here in California. One day we were bored so he had me IM his friends on AOL INstant messenger and play jokes on them. It was pretty funny the stories i came up with to freak them out

FH happened to be one of those random guy and we actually kept talking and met a few months later .. after that the internet love just blossomed

I met FH online in Feb. '99. I had been hit by a car and was home in a cast. One day while bored on the computer I started searching the AOL member directory with certain keywords and found him online. I IM'd him & we started chatting. We Im'd & emailed back & forth until July when I asked if I'd ever get to meet him. We set up a date for the next day. Since I don't drive it had to be somewhere that I could get to by bus so we met at the mall by my house and had lunch which went on for 4 hours. We just talked alot (ok I did....lol). When we parted I told him I'd email him my phone # which I did. I never thought I'd hear from him again because he was sooooo quiet & I felt like I'd bored him with all my talking but a few days later he called & we've been together ever since.
