As as guest at a wedding do you prefer to be served dinner, or do you prefer a buffet?

I havent ever been to a wedding with a buffet and just really prefer a sit down dinner.

I've been to both & honestly it doesnt matter- I know my FH prefers a buffet though 'cause he can take as much as he wants (he's a pig lol)

I figure since the cocktail hour is buffet style, it's nice to have it served to you at dinner and not stand in line again.

Me too....FH is leaning more towards buffett. Am I crazy for wating seated and served in a tent reception?

i prefer to be seated and served. the CH is pretty much a big buffet, and the lines for food can be crazy. during the reception, if you have to stand in line again for food, i feel it takes up too much time.

I think it's nice to be served, but in certain cases a buffet is just as nice--my uncle had a 2nd wedding at The Gatsby and they had a buffet and it was great--since it was a smaller wedding, no lines really...and the food was nice and hot (which isn't always the case when it's served!)

This is exactly FH's thinking. He wants the food served HOT....but I worry about people carrying food back and spilling on themselves...am I being crazy?

we did buffet at ours it was one of the things dh really wanted he likes that he can pick and choose what we wants and can also decide on how small or big he wants his portions to be.
our hall at 25 huge buffet sections,and i think they called by 2 tables at a time because there was 2 buffet sections ,and to honest i dont think there was a line. ( our reception was buffet, bu they served us, the bp and out parents table)

For me it doesn't matter they both have their pros and cons. I do like the flexibility of the buffet, being able to choose what I want and how much of it. I guess it really all depends on the amount of people invited, with a large wedding a buffet lines can get long. IF the RH sets up a double sided buffet and is diligent with moving people to and from in a timely fashion, it all should work well. Don't forget you can always request that certain people and/or bridal party be served, if you have concerns of the elderly, ect.

I've only been to one wedding iwth a buffet, but I thought it was awkward how they had to keep interrupting the reception to announce which table could go stand on line.

We have 60 guests on the list, and I know all won't make it. But we are having a tent wedding, and I worry about the ladies in heels, that have to cross the dance floor, and then sink into the grass. I also worry about people spilling food on themselves on their way back to the tables. Am I worrying too much over nothing?
