Just engaged- how do you start narrowing down your reception choices?
All,
Is there some comprehensive resource that lists all the reception possibilities on LI? I have heard things about nassau county beach clubs that host weddings but can't seen to find them listed anywhere...this is a bit overwhelming!

Yes, there is a magazine with a grid of all the venues divided by county, it lists per head $, max and min capacity, and all that good stuff. Unfortunately, I can't put my hands on it right now, as it is buried under wedding stuff. I got mine in CVS. It might be published by Newsday.

There is a magazine (thick enough to be a book) that is sold in most CVS/Duane Reade/Eckerd, etc. or probably any place that sells lots of magazines/books called Locations. It details most RHs in the tri-state area. I would say decide on a geographical area, an approx. amount of guests and budget. Then go and visit them little by little, get to know your own style preference and you'll gradually knock some off the list and make some your contenders. Good Luck!

This would be the 'Wedding Sites & Services' or 'Locations Sites & Services'....it lists every venue in NY along with approx. price range, what they offer, photos etc. it's great to help narrow down! they sell it at most large magazine stands(in ur cvs, eckerds etc.) and they also sell it as borders & barnes&noble. good luck!

Congratulations!!!!! You are going to love this site. I recommend you going to a LIwedding sponsored bridal expo. There are a few coming up in the next week. You will get a ton of free books with information on wedding receptions. This website will also help you narrow it down because you will be able to check other brides reviews.

I learned EVERYTHING i needed to know about receptions halls from this website. Just searched around different reception hall posts and the Brides Review to see which ones people like the most.
