Just engaged- is 2013 too soon????!

FH and I got engaged on September 2nd. We're not trying to rush and we don't feel stressed but our only concern is we want to get our reception booked so we know the date. But is next september, 1 year, 365 days to today TOO soon? Especially since september is such a busy month. HELP! Advice time!

It's definitely doable, our engagement was only 9 months!

Congrats! My engagement will be 3 years long by the time we get married...so i'm not the best one to ask HAHA. But if you feel you have the time to plan etc, go for it

If you can swing it money wise I would def do it! My engagement will be a year and half exactly and I think its too long!

I'm with you.. We will be just shy of 4 years engaged when we get married but there are plenty of girls that get married less then a year after getting engaged. Heck if we could have afforded it at the time I totally would have!

I dont think thats too soon at all. If you can afford it why not? We are getting married 1 year and 3 months after our engagement.

I spent this weekend calling venues for next fall and dates were limited, but I still had options. A few places told me that they wouldn't have any Saturdays in my timeframe (Aug - Oct) but almost all had Sundays or Friday nights available. I fell in love with Fox Hollow and booked on the spot because they only had one date that worked for me (based on the time of day I was looking for, they did have other dates available). What was strange was that some halls said that August is cheaper than Sept/Oct and others said the reverse. I was planning on Sept/Oct for sure but ended up saving $$ by doing August.

YAY! Congrats! I'm a Fox Hollow bride too Fox Hollow is a little different as far as which months are cheaper. Most places Nov- April are the off season but Nov and Dec at Fox Hollow is more expensive because they do a lot of business parties

You can do it! I just started today, I'm getting married one year from today as well. I know plenty of people who've planned in less as well. The only thing I would suggest is to make sure to do your venue first because I know all the venues I've looked at are filling up quickly.

I'm definitely already booking up my schedule with appointments for places. We are looking for a Friday possibly Sunday to save some $ and we're not too traditional. Looking for something beachy, or a waterfront restaurant, something with an outdoor space. We also have looked in Long Island City at a rooftop hotel which we loved and it was very reasonable. I think all of those factors will be on our side.

it all depends on the $ situation i would have loved to have it sooner but with the number of guests , etc etc we needed to save up!!

Thats what I was told by the RH i booked with. I was looking at Sept/October as I thought it was off season but when we went to speak to our BM he advised that July/August was cheaper. I was tempted to change our date to August but couldn't as my bother is getting married mid. August. Yay to you for saving $$$. Happy Wedding Planning!

Thanks! It surprised me, but all my teacher friends and family were very happy about it. Now I just gotta get a move on booking my vendors. Ahhh.

That's so nice that you and your brother are getting married a few months apart. You can piggyback on each other's research. (as long as you get along with his FW, lol)

Congrats!...I think 1 year is doable, you may not get the date you want because of others that booked in advance but i've heard sometimes you get better deals!

Totally do-able. I was engaged in June and married in March. Good luck and congratulations!
