JUST ENGAGED/ MAY 07 WEDDING/ COST OF A PLANNER

CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT A WEDDING PLANNER COSTS... I JUST GOT ENGAGED AND WE NEED TO PLAN FOR MAY 2007 AND WE ARE WANTING AN OUTDOOR TENT WEDDING FOR 150 PEOPLE. ARE THERE OPEN SPACE LOCATIONS LIKE THAT ON LONG ISLAND? WE DON'T WANT A HALL. WE'D REALLY LIKE A WIDE OPENED SPACE TO PLOP DOWN A TENT AND HAVE AN OUTDOOR WEDDING... ANYONE KNOW IF A PLANNER IS THE BEST ROUTE TO GO TO GET THINGS DONE AFFORDABLE (LOW END BUDGET) AND FAST??? SORRY FOR THE ALL CAPS... MY LAPTOP IS ON DRUGS

Hello and congratulations!!!

Another girl here wants a tented wedding and had a thread about it a month or so ago... maybe there's some information you can use:

Tented Wedding

Hope that helps! I'm hoping to have a tented wedding as well, but somewhere in Jersey or Connecticut (kind of a mini-destination wedding) so maybe we can share some tips along the way!

hey thank you. I'm still getting used to the ring on my finger. It's such an exciting time....

Did you find places in jersey and upstate? Are you using a wedding planner at all? Do you think it's necessary? What about outside catering and facilities... I read some of the Tent thread and started to panic because I didn't realize that it would actually be more expensive than a hall... but if it could be done in jersey for a decent price... i want to do it....

Welcome and congrats! Here is my advice from being in the 'biz'. Your caterer can handle all of the tent, linens, tables, rentals for you but they will charge you a 20% fee to do it. This is not annotated anywhere but they just add it in and to be honest it is a lot of work and a reasonable fee. A planner will cost you about $2000. The fees can be the same if you choose a good planner.

I would look for a planner who has ties with and has done tented weddings before. This will insure that they can get you the best price.

Good luck!
