Just engaged! Please help!

Hi everyone!

My FH and I just got engaged last month and we are starting the process of looking for venues. So far we have appointments to see Larkfield Manor and Flowerfields. Has anyone had experience with The Cottage at East Wind all inclusive package? Is it worth it to go all inclusive? It seems like a great deal but I am worried that it's too good to be true.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

For East Wind, I would definitely read reviews on all the vendors they use. All-inclusives are a great way to save, but you don't want to get nervous if you find out a particular vendor isn't too reliable or something like that. I don't know a lot about all inclusive packages anyway, but it's a thought that comes to my mind.

Also, congratulations!

i totally agree with lori yes great way to save money!!! but yes always research the vendors they are using .. although i can really see east wind using someone that is not good. but definatly check it out. as far as larkfield manor goes i know they are remodeling or maybe done by now i know for a while they were just showing brides the blueprints. the last time i was there was way before the remodel but i read nothing but great things bout both places. i have quotes for lands end and west sayville country club if you want...

congrats and good luck with your planning

Thanks to you both! Great advice, I'll look into the vendors while I'm at work today.

I'd love to know the quotes for lands ends and WSCC if you have them! Thanks again :)

My brother and FSIL recently booked the cottage at East Wind and are happy so far. You have choices of vendors and they are all pretty reputable too.

PS - they are actually having a showcase this Sunday.

Pick up the magazine 'Wedding Sites and Services'. It's amazing!!! it has pictures of venues, price ranges, menu samples. I couldn't have done without it!

I'm picking up a copy of wedding sites and services as soon as I get out of work!! Thanks, it sounds like a great magazine.

Lauren - we are meeting Pete at larkfield manor tonight! Did you find the prices to be fair? My cousin was married there and loved it, I was unableto attend so I can only go by what she says and she loved the food. It sounds like its going to be beautiful after the remodeling.

Pete is pretty cool. he is one of the owner's sons. he always emails back immediately when we have questions. i think he runs all their social media too (pinterest/ facebook). EVERYONE says the food is great there and the only complaint i have ever seen is that someone tripped and hurt themself- hardly larkfield's fault! we booked before they officially announced the renovation, so i think it's based on the old pricing, but they will probably still give a discount because the renovations aren't done yet? not sure but they were easy to work with generally, you should not have a problem! good luck!

I attended a wedding at Larkfield Manor about two weeks ago and the food was great! And there was plenty of it. I kind of over ate lol. They had a whole room for dessert with candy apples and a popcorn machine. It was awesome. The only complaint was that the bar tenders REALLY wanted tips. But I'm sure that depends on the night, the crowd, and who is bartending.

how did it go?

It went well, the place looks like its going to be gorgeous when it's finished. The menu was extensive and the price was good. FH wasn't thrilled, I think Pete sort of threw him for a loop - the guy was talking a mile a minute! Lol! And I think he's a little nervous about booking a place we can't see. We have an appointment tomorrow at Willow Creek and then another on Sunday at Flowerfield. I also want to check out the Cottage at East Wind. Everything's so expensive though and I haven't ruled out eloping lol

Willow Creek was gorgeous, I fell in love. But sadly, it is most likely out of reach for us since we're paying for this ourselves :( I think I might check out Crest Hollow CC and the Riviera! FH fell in love with Flowerfield, just have to see if they can work with us on the price.
