Just feel like venting a moment

I love how we pretty much had to BEG my in-laws for the small amount of help they gave us for the wedding and they went out today and bought a big fat Lexus and paid in cash!

UGG! At least when I complain my inlaws are giving us squat for the wedding, I know in the back of my mind it's because they don't have anything to give. That must burn. Sorry for the selfish inlaws!

people are so horrible like that sometimes.

Most (not all thankfully) of the people I know that have $$$$$ are very cheap towards others. Sorry

that sux. me & fh decided to ask our parents for the same amount of $$ to help out, an amount we knew both could come up with in 2 years. well we already asked my parents and they said 'of course.' and that was the end of it. my fil's, however, keep telling me that they are going to 'help' us, but really i know i am not going to see a dime. and fmil is already asking for a limo for the wedding day to cart her *** all over creation. so, i know how you feel, $$ is always something that will cause arguments.

I can totally relate. My in laws just bought a TWO MILLION DOLLAR house and did not give us a dime for our wedding!! Not even a card!!

They are the most selfish and cheap people I know!!!

The question is..... Do I send them a thank you card??

Re: Just feel like venting a moment

I have no idea what is up with that...I think they are just cheap. Now mind you...it was his father, wicked stepmother and her two bratty teenagers who stiffed us!!! I also get the sense that they think we don't need the $$ since we both have good jobs.

The day after the wedding, his father said he 'forgot' and would have the gift when we got back from the HM. When we got back, he said he would have our gift soon. How f*ing hard is it to write a check when you have millions!!! Not a word since then and I do not expect one since they pulled the same thing for our E party. We still haven't gotten an Engagement gift. (BTW, my shower gift from DH's step mother and step sister was a check for $30. ***??)

I think sometimes the richest people are the cheapest people.

I think I might just send them a TY card to 'remind' them that we got squat. Something like 'TY for coming to our wedding....We hope you enjoyed yourselves.' I'd like to add 'you cheap $#*%' but I'll hold back.

The parent folio came with my photo package so I guess I'll just give it to them for Christmas and have one less present to buy.

UGH...thanks for letting me vent!!!

At least his mom and Stepdad are great!!

I know the feeling...we 'borrowed' the money for our wedding and we have intentions of giving it back too. Just so MIL can't hold it over our heads...she made me cry 3 days before the wedding over the final payment!!

Oddly enough, I think that's how a lot of people get rich...by being cheap their whole lives That seriously sucks though...definately no thank-yous!

Re: Just feel like venting a moment

I understand where you are coming from. My DH's family gave us very little for our wedding, but they couldn't afford it. They spend money on some things that are questionable, and we didn't even get a card on our wedding day. After a long time of mulling over it and being annoyedI am at peace with it . . .and the reason is: It's their money and it's their decision how they spend it. They may have loads or nothing, but the bottom line is that it is their money, not mine.

But I totally understand where you're coming from.
