Just Found out my Matron of Honor is Pregnant, need help!
I am thrilled for my best friend. Believe me. My only concern is that my wedding is Sept 26, 2008 and she is due August 16th. Do you think she will be ok by than, and what do I do about a dress for her? She lives 4 hours away so I don't want to make her run around in her condition. Her family live 5 minutes from me though, her parents and sibliings.
What do I do about a dress? She won't be pregnant but I also won't know what size she will be. Do they make special dresses that can be altered easily for situations like this? Have no idea what to do. I'm stressing out big time, not really about the dress, more about that she will be ok to just be there, thats all I really care about. I don't need her to do any errands for me, I just really want my best friend at the wedding. My other friend who had her first baby said she should be fine by than, its a month and a half later. I really hope so!

She should be fine by then!!!!!!!!! However, she will definitely want to order a bigger size.. soshe isn't stressed about taking all the baby weight off ASAP!! So she can either order a BIG size in whatever dress you are ordering for them.. or DAVIDS bridal does have some maternity dresses I think that your best bet is to go to the place where you are ordering the dresses, explain the situation, and they will advice accordingly, knowing how the sizing works for the dress you selcted!
I was just in a BP where one of the BM had a baby in July.. and the wedding was in October... and she had lost ALMOST ALL of her baby weight...they had ordered her a MUCH BIGGER size in a Bill Levkoff dress........and then just took it all in.. because she LOST WEIGHT!! she looked great and it all worked out !

She should be fine! Order her dress a size or so bigger. They can always take it in if they need to!

my sister was pregos for my cousin's wedding and the dress she wore was an empire waist and it was perfect cause when her belly got big they just pulled the dress up and sewed it (my sister is petite and the dress was super long) so she had enough room to move around. hope this helps.

She will be a little tired, but ok. I would get her measured now but it depends on how fast she bounces back and loses the 'baby belly'. She is sure to still have a little pouch. Is the dress loose fitting at all? Maybe choose her dress based on that. Let it be something just flowing and loose in the tummy area

You can also ask the store to order extra material. My cousin did that for my wedding just in case she needed it. If it's not used, you can always use it to wrap your BM's flowers.

I wouldnt be too concerned, you have a month at least and bridal shops know how to deal with these situations.

SO strange... my wedding is the same day as yours and my MOH is pregnant too! she is due june 23rd so she has 2 months, but its her second baby and her first one was 11lbs and 12ozs. and they say the 1st one is the smallest. so we have a dress issue but i told her just to get a size bigger than she was at teh end of her first pregnancy bc they can always alter it. I just want her to be comortable.

I have the same situation- my Matron of Honor is due in two weeks and still hasn't gotten a dress- but we're getting the gowns from David's and they told her that it would be no more than three weeks for the gown that she wants so all will be okay.

One of my friend's BM gave birth to their son like 3 weeks before she got married and her BM was fine....

i would have her order now, just get it a couple sizes bigger, tell the consultants, they should prob be able to help you

Have you asked her if she still wants to be in the wedding? One of my friends who I was going to ask to be a BM got prego a little after we got engaged and she is due on our wedding date! We talked about it and she said she would rather not be in the wedding. I would just ask her

I don't have anyone else I can ask. I am not really having bridesmaids... she's my one and only girlfriend that I would consider.... my other girlf friends are just not even close enough to be a bridesmaid let a lone matron of honor.... she's been there for me since kindergarden.

This is good advice. Pregnancy can be taxing. Your friend may even have the best of intentions in fully participating, but then find out that it's physically more than she can handle after she's further along. This may even be so after birth. Have an honest conversation with her, and realize even then things may change. Good luck.

If possible I would say go for an empire waist dress for her and order a size bigger than she would normally be. Luckily fittings usually being about a month before the wedding, so she can have her first fitting after she has the baby. One of my bm got her dress fitted the week of the wedding.
