Just got back from Jewelry Shopping - *Updated*
So I went to Nyack today to go antique hunting. I wanted to see if I could find a necklace for my DOJ. After hitting up about 10 stores I was pretty disappointed with what I saw.
Then I went into an actual jewelers. The woman was so nice, she cleaned my engagement ring for free and basically told me anything in the store they could make in the colors I want to change to be what I wanted. Then she showed me a bunch of books and told me that they make things all the time for people, even from costume jewelry or old things lying around in the house. When I told her that I had a pair of earrings from Tiffany's I wanted to get she said that they could make them (and a necklace) for me for a lot less than half the cost. AND even though they're a small place we could still pay on an installment plan. That made me so excited! I'm going to email her pictures of what I wanted now and we're going to start work on making my DOJ.
A picture of the earrings I'm getting are in my album, and the necklace I'm going to get will be an emerald cut pendant in the same stone and design. Plus a ring we have made.
***Update***
FH and I went back to the jeweler today to speak with the owner of the store and make sure they got the right info and start on the process of having my DOJ made. The owner was so nice and basically said that he would send his designer to Tiffany's to get all the specific measurements and make sure we get the exact same piece made. Now I am doubly excited! We were quoted prices and the cost of the earrings and necklace together will cost us less than if we ust bought hte earrings from Tiffany's. In the end we will save over 8K using him instead.
I love saving money. Yay!
