Everything is fine with the baby but he told me that I'm gaining too much weight too fast!! I am soooooo upset!!
I gained 5lbs in about 4 weeks. And I don't know what to do, I didn't think I was eating THAT bad. I haven't gone to the gym in about a month so I know that didn't help. I guess I have no one to blame but myself.
Grrrrr...I'm so upset... ugh I just needed to vent!
My fat pregnant a ss is gonna go walk on the treadmill now...

I gained 8lbs in 4 weeks. PLEASE dont worry about it!!! I gained 50+ with both my babies. It will come off!!! They dont want you gaining too much because of the fear of GD plus its harder to take baby weight off...

Dr's say the stupidest things sometimes.... if you had been and continue to steadily pack it on I could see the comment. But really, a pound a week is normal for most people at your stage. Especially if you start out under or at 'normal' weight. It doesn't mean that you will continue like that.
Don't worry and don't work too hard on that treadmill!

I was told the same thing when I gained 5lbs in one month. You doctor is just looking out for you. If you gain with too much speed it will be really hard on you in the last trimester, especially if you are petite.
Don't worry about what you already gained and certainly don't go on any kind of diets! Just make sure you don't stuff yourself with junk food and eat lots of fruit and veggies! I know sometimes all you want to do is chew, chew, chew . It's all about what you chew though!
Good luck and don't worry about it too much! Just because you gained a little too much this months doesn't you will gain the same amount next month. It's different every month, weight gain is not consistent from month to month! The baby has it's own plan!

Don't let the dr get you too upset. I too had months where I gained more than others and some were at least 5lbs - and my drs were never concerned. For me it all evened out in the end and I stayed close to the 30lb mark. Eat healthy (enough), get some exercise/stay active - and if baby is fine - don't you cry!!!!!!!!

Re: Just got back from the Dr and I'm gonna CRY!!
I gain between 5-8 each visit, I have gained about 20 so far at 21 weeks. They havent said anything to me about it. I think you'll be fine. you may have gone thru a growth spurt and you maybe more steady from now until the end.

Re: Just got back from the Dr and I'm gonna CRY!!
Thanks girls... I'm just going to watch what I eat more carefully from now on and try harder to make it to the gym.
DH got mad when I told him and he said the Dr was a**hole and that I should change Drs... I didn't tell you the worst of it. After he said I was gaining too much too fast he also said 'You know, just because your pregnant doesn't mean you can eat everything you want.' I know that's true, but the way he said it was kinda rude.
But this wasn't my regular OB, my OB was backed up last night so I saw his partner.

I had some a-hole tell me the same thing and I never had GD or any other problem related to excessive weight gain. I gained around 60+ with Amber but lost like 35+ on the table (most of it was water). I'm still struggling with the last 20 but it will come off.

Just think of it this way... your baby is getting more than it needs in the nutrition dept. Besides, it's possible you'll gain a lot now, and less later. A close friend of mine gained 35lbs having her child... and 25lbs of that was gained in the 1st trimester!!!!
You'll be fine, girl!!!

Re: Just got back from the Dr and I'm gonna CRY!!
I ended up gaining 60 pounds. The only time my Dr or I became concerned was when I gained 10 pounds in one week AND I was starting to show signs of toxemia. Please don't be so hard on yourself. I use to eat pretty healthy and did allow my self some ice cream and stuff like that, but in moderation. I also walked *atleast* 4 times a week for an hour my whole pregnancy. I know part of the concern is that you will develop GD, have a horrible 3rd trimester, and a horrible L&D and recovery. My third semester wasn't horrible, at all. I never developed GD. My L&D was a breeze (I was even induced, which typically has a worse labor than naturally going in to labor.) I was up and around with in 30 minutes of my birth and by the next day was completely fine (except a little lightheaded from the normal blood loss.) I never even took any pain meds.
My point is that everyone is an individual and no one is going to gain by the book. As long as you are doing what you can to keep you and your baby healthy, that's what matters. Don't stress about it.
Edited to say that I did have an epidural, I wasn't that med free...I just meant in the recovery.

Re: Just got back from the Dr and I'm gonna CRY!!
Im sorry but your dr. is out of line! In the 2nd trimester you should be gaining a pound a week - you are right on target.
PLUS i have seen your belly pics - you are barely even showing - nor do you look fat at all.
My first thought was 'her dr. must be a man' - sorry, but men don't get it. It doesnt matter how much you go to the gym sweetie - your body will dictate the needs of the child and act accordingly. Worry about dieting and the gym when your body is back to being your own (not that health isn't important now - but it's not in your control how or where you carry)
Please try to ignore what he said and do what is good for you and your little one - THAT is what is important!!

Re: Just got back from the Dr and I'm gonna CRY!!
Rapid weight gain...or more than your normal up to now...can be a sign of problems. Mine was...I had GD and in one month gained nearly more than I had the whole pregnancy up to that point. I would ask for a GD test now just to rule it out.
I don't think it is a bad idea to exercise during pregnancy...so that is a good thing for you and the baby.
