Just got back from Threading

Just got back from Threading

I have been going to this salon to get my eye brows threaded for over a year now and I've always been afraid to get my upper lip done. Well I finally did it today and much to my surprise it hurt less than my eyebrows. I was so excited.

Just thought I'd share in case anyone is interested in threading. :)

That's good to hear. I love threading (though I've never had my lip done) and will never go back to waxing.

Is threading around the same price as waxing? I've been toying with the idea to go, but haven't yet. I'm still a little hesitant!

oh man! i think the lip hurts so much more!!! Either way, threding is the best thing I have ever come across.

The place I go to charges $6 I think.

$11 for lip and eyebrow.

It doesn't get any better than that!

The place I go charges $5 for eyebrows and $3 for lip!

Littlebookworm. Threading is when they twist up a piece of thread and pull the hairs out that way. I'm not exactly sure how they do it but it's much better for your skin than waxing. Waxing pulls your skin and promots wrinkles. Threading only touches your hairs so it's better.

Theres a whole bunch of places to get threading at...heres what LIbride posted before

On Hillside Avenue, on the border of Queens and Nassau, there are at least 4 threading salons.

One of the older salons there is
Shobha's Salon
83-59 264th St, Floral Park, NY 11004
Phone: (718) 962-2895

A couple of others are:

Mehak Beauty Parlor
260-13 Hillside Ave, Floral Park, NY 11004
Phone: (718) 962-2991

Priya's Unisex Beauty Salon
1637 Hillside Ave, New Hyde Park, NY 11040
Phone: (516) 358-1800

I go to a place called Pearl beauty Salon on Jericho Tpke in New Hyde Pk or Shingar which is on Hillside Ave in New Hyde Pk also..
Both charge $4 for eyebrows and $3 for upper lip!

hmmm - very interesting - my skin is very sensitive and I've broken out badly from waxing. Do you think that it's better than waxing for sensitive skin? Has anyone with really sensitive skin tried it on their lip?

Re: Just got back from Threading

I love threading - I used to live in Jackson Heights and there were so many salons that did it over there - $4 for eyebrows!!

Now I live in Long Island City and there isn't a salon that does it so I'm back to waxing.

Re: Just got back from Threading

I am a Suffolk bride. I live in Centereach. I usually go during my lunch break at work because I work in Melville. There is a place in Setauket that does it but I've never tried because they were charging $20.

And it is so much better for sensitive skin because they're not putting any product on your skin. So as long as you're not allergic to thread then you should be ok.

Ohm Salon (I think that's the name) in Huntington Village does it. I don't know how much though. I never knew what it was so it sounded strange not like hair removal. They always have a sign outside for it. Thanks for the info on what it is!
