I just got engaged and heard many good things about this website, so I decided to sign up...
I am looking to get married in 2010, maybe 10/10/10 since that is a cool date! But I was wondering if anyone can list some prices that they have gotten so far at different RH's for different times of the year?
I just want to see what type of places are in my price range.. otherwise I will not waste my time booking an appointment to see those halls!!
So far i am visiting Chateau La Mer this Sunday so we will see how that goes..
But any input appreciated!!
Thanks!

Congrats and welcome!! I have price quotes for october 2010...we considered the date 10-10-10 but decided against it as most places jacked up the price bc of the holiday weekend.
These are the ranges for october on a sat afternoon/sun afternoon or night...it ranges based on day and at some places even date
Those are pretty much the price ranges for october that we were given...it pretty much depends on time of day and day of the week, and at some places the later in october it is the cheaper.
Good luck!

Wow, thank you all for your input, this has been very helpful...
I know i want to get married in 2010 but i just don't know what time of year yet. I was thinking 10-10-10 but now that it may be more expensive because of the holiday weekend i am not so sure....
my first appointment for a RH (chateau la mer) is this sunday... but thanks for those prices so at least i have a guide!
i'm looking to spend no more than 100 pp incl. the tax and gratuity.... is it even possible these days?! LOL...

you may be able to get 100/pp or less...but you would have to have the wedding during the 'off' season for weddings..which would be the winter months and march...maybe even april when the weather is still kind of iffy
also try looking into having your wedding on an off day like Friday, Saturday afternoon, or Sunday

Re: Just got engaged, anyone have RH Prices?
Congrats on the engagement.
If you go back in the boards to like december of 07 we started a list of prices that we got when the few of us first got engaged....there are a whole different places on the list and also what we all thought of it and what they were willing to give us with the prices.

It is definatly possible these day!! I'm getting married on a Sat. afternoon in July and spending 67 pp...with tax and gratuity about 87 pp.
Looking at RHs I think the biggest difference is sat afternoon and sat nights. Saturday nights at almost all places will run you over 100 easily. I find Sat. afternoon better anyway because the sun is out, its better for pictures and you can alwyas move the party somewhere else (Both our families are irish and LOVE to party!!)
If you really are on a tight budget, I would suggest looking at places that have 'packages' which include limo, photo/video, dj, etc. The cheapest I found was Holiday Inn in Plainvew (and probably one of L.I's best kept secrets in terms of weddings). THe cost: $9,999 for 100 Guests. This includes flowers, video, dj, limo, photo and inviations. Here's the website for more info: http://www.hiplainviewny.com/weddingpackage/
FH and I did look there, I was VERY impressed. I would definatly consider having it there. If you do a Saturday afternoon then Sat. nights they have a band play so if you're not ready for the party to end at 6PM everyone can go outside to the pool and they have even more (FREE) entertainment. FH didn't like it so we didnt choose it.
Manor East is also an option that includes a package deal. It is a little more pricey but beautiful as well. Ariana Waterfall also has a package deal and is one wedding at a time.
Are you looking for anything else specific, other than price? We're here to help!!

Re: Just got engaged, anyone have RH Prices?
Wow you girls are great! I appreciate the advice/help.... I don't even know where to start with this planning stuff, but i figured first and foremost would have to be booking the hall since dates go really fast....even in 2010 even though it seems so far away!!
Well i would say right now i guess price is something important but its not everything. I do want to find a RH that is at least elegant/classy and not cheap looking! I was always skeptical of the 'package' places because im like 'hmmm must be a cheap place' but maybe i will check them out!
Plus now you've given me hope that i can actually get a good deal on halls like JT.. which i thought for sure would be like 120pp... but i guess i can check it out to see different dates/time of day for the best price.
Do you think i should go to these showcases some RH's have before i book? Or are those things mostly for vendors like dj's, etc... (eventually i will be needing to book those as well so if anyone has had any good experiences w/ any of those let me know!)
Thanks so much again to all!

Re: Just got engaged, anyone have RH Prices?
Congrats!!! I only have prices for the summer of 2010. I suggest you go to Barnes and Nobles and get the reception magazine. It has every hall in NY and it gives you the places price ranges

Re: Just got engaged, anyone have RH Prices?
The showcases are a lot of fun but more for vendors like djs limos florists etc.
If you want Elegant/Classy for an affordable price, you should definatly look at Chateau Briand, Crest hollow, & Jericho Terrace. IMO those are the most elegant/classy for 100 pp (once again as long as its not a sat. night!)

Re: Just got engaged, anyone have RH Prices?
You should definatly go to all of the places that you are interested in. You might be surprised at what they will give you. A lot of these places are willing to work with you...and if you are willing to have the wedding in the off season then you can definatly have a Sat night wedding for under $100 pp including tax and tip!
