I'm so excited!!!! I had them on for a year and a half and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. I am so happy with my new smile and I can't wait to show it off to everyone I know. Since I had jury duty yesterday I couldn't show my coworkers until today and they are all impressed. I waited so long to get them b/c my FH scared me for years with his braces horror stories from when he had them, but I finally sucked it up and got them done. Men are such babies, I didn't have any of the problems that he did. My orthodontist said that I was a model patient and I did everything correctly.

Yea, men can't deal with pain, could you imagine them carrying a child for 9 months and then having to go thru labor.

That's great that you got your braces off.. I had them on for 4 years and now my teeth are moving forward.. Just wear your retainers!!! I didn't....

Thank you all and yes I definitely plan on wearing my retainer. I am picking it up on Monday. I am only getting one for the top b/c I have a permanent one bonded to the bottom. My FH's stepmom threw his out accidentally and now his teeth are starting to move. I keep telling him that he better go and get new ones, but he doesn't listen to me. Now he really has to go and straighten out his teeth, since mine look so great.

Do you keep running your tongue over your teeth? I couldn't believe how smooth my teeth felt after I got my braces off...I guess it was because I was used to having those brackets on my teeth for seven (yes, seven) years!

Thanks, wow seven years I think I would go crazy. Yes, I am always running my tongue over my teeth now. The best thing about getting them off it not having to worry about everything you just ate being stuck in them and of course chewing gum. I was going through withdrawal at first......

I envy you. I will be getting braces after the wedding. My teeth are not crooked but my bite is very narrow. I first have to have a pallate expander that will leave gaps in my teeth. THEN I will need braces. THEN I will have to remove my veneers from my four front teeth in order to bleach them and the others. THEN I will have to get new veneers to even out my teeth in the front. It is going to take about two years to complete so even if I started now, they would not be done by the time of the wedding. So my photogrpaher will have to just whiten my teeth in photo editing. I am just oen of those people who never had naturally white teeth and trust me I DO BRUSH, don't smoke, and not a huge coffee drinker. I am lucky however, that my BIL's sister is a dentist who also does orthodontia. She will only charge me for the veneers and not the braces.

I'm sorry I had braces to correct my narrow bite too, my teeth were slightly crooked on the bottom...nothing to really make a fuse about. It is soooo worth it, I couldn't be happier.

i wore braces for 3 years, because i used to suck my thumb. what a different feeling when they were taken off, it used to feel funny that my lip rests against my actual teeth instead of the braces and your lip feeling like it sticks out! congrats!!
