My friend & her husband just discovered that there child has Cooley's Anemia. Apparently there baby will be transfusion dependent. I'm sooooooo upset right now!! I dont know how bad the condition is, I wont know anything more til I see my friend in a few weeks. But my heart is breaking for her.

One of my closest friends has three adult children & two of them have cooleys anemia & sickle anemia which is really rare to have both. They are pretty healthy most of the time but have both had hundreds of transfusions in their lives. They are occaisionally hospitalized if they have a crisis. All of those blood diseases are pretty complicated. to your friend & her baby

Oh my gosh, that is awful!! I am not even sure that I understand what that is, but it sounds terrible for a child to have to deal with. I am so sorry for your friend.
