Just had a fight with my FH over tipping!

Ok, so I started to telling him about the whole thing for tipping, and he started telling me it's ridiculous. Our DJ OWNS the company, so why should he get more of a tip? He says you only tip people that are working for the company, not the owners. If that's the case, then we wouldn't tip our photographer or videographer. He was being such a jerk! I'm just trying to do the right thing. He told me I'm just buying into everything, and how do I know what the right thing is. I said because I talk to other brides :) He rolled his eyes so many times I was ready to smack him! Sorry for the vent

This is the story of my life too. I dont neccessarily fight with my FI but we have little disagreements and all about money. I have learned rather then get overly excited and start yelling to calmly sit down and explain my side, let him explain his side and then ultimately do what I want, hehehe. Seriously don't stress it, you can both come to an agreement if you talk it out.

Well....although I agree with you and will tip everyone I use also.....he DOES have a point!

I think he is right. Don't tip the owners of the companies. I also asked some of the vendors and they all said that a tip wasn't expected.

Why would you tip the owner? They make all of the money anyway. I can understand if you are overwhelmed with the service but it is unnecessary.

He is right. If the vendor is the owner of the company, they should not receive a tip and shouldn't expect one from you.

I agree with him too...if they own the co., all that money you're paying them is already theirs.

I have to agree with your FH too, I don't think we would tip if it was the owner, unless they went above and beyond

I also agree with him. For any type of service, you generally don't tip the owner.

I guess I wasted a lot of money then.......becuase I tipped everyone - owner or not. But I was pleased with my vendors, so I thought they deserved a tip, and I gave them one!

i didnt tip my photographer- he was the owner and I paid him enough $$$ for the pics..he was the owner.. dont forget that you also have to feed your vendors and your hall charges you.... the Watermill didnt charge me full price but they did charge me!!!
