So I was finally able to sit down with a jeweler and talk about having a custom wedding band to go around my uniquely shaped engagement ring. We gave them a deposit of 500 and left. We went to a different store and got my FH wedding band and we LOVED there place more. They were very personable and their prices were amazing. So I immediately wanted to take back my ring order from the first store and go with this new jeweler.
We called them immediately (about 3 hrs had passed) and they said we needed to call back today. We'll today they told us, sorry no refunds but we can give you store credit.
What am I going to do with store credit?!?!? I completely understand that if they did work on the ring (which within those 3 hrs, they didn't do any work) - and now I just lost 500.
I am SO sad I want to cry. Money is so tight now even with FH working 2 jobs and me working so much overtime.
Anyone in NJ want to pay me 500 to use my store credit? Its at 'Giorgeo's Fine Jewelry' in the Newport Center Mall.
I am sooo sad.

I'm sorry this happened to you...but, if it were me in that position, I'd just get my ring at the original store and not spend even more money.

If you get your wedding band elsewhere, why not use the credit to get a necklace or earrings for your DOJ?

Yeah we were going to do that if it came to it - but I didn't like the design as much. I was an impulsive decision on my part. I wish I could take it back...

That is what we were thinking. Using it as gifts or jewelry for the day of the wedding - but I wasn't really looking to spend that much on my jewelry. I wish I could just get my money back.

I am sorry. That stinks. Did you talk to the manager? If I were you, I would definetly call back again today and ask to speak with the manager or the owner and explain to them that although you understand they have a non refundable policy, however, it was only 3 hours later. Tell them that you are getting married and money is tight, cry if you have to (it does help). Better yet, if you can go to the store in person. It's a lot harder for them to say no face to face.
That is just poor business on their part.

FH did talk to the manger but he is just as stubborn. He is going to pick up my engagement ring tmr. If I were able to go with him, I'd definitely cry.

You could buy your day of jewelry with the store credit though. Maybe your bridesmaid gifts as DOJ as well!

Thats a good idea. I could get my bridesmaids gifts there. I wasn't sure what I was going to get them - but jewelry is always good.

It stinks especially after 3 hrs and with people saving for weddings but you could buy yourself beautiful jewelry for the day of and a LOT of people get their girls matching day of jewelry and you could probably get nice things all using the same $500 so maybe it will all work out. Maybe even a parent gift they sometimes have nice mom necklaces and things. See what else they have!

That is ridiculous. They didn't make you aware of the policy... you should threaten legal action or report them to the BBB. Anyways, you can def buy your BM's DOJ there! It just su cks that you have to give them business that they don't deserve.
