Just Married

After 9 1/2 years of dating and a 16 month engagement, we were finally married on May 6. I just want everyone to know that detailed planning pays off--I didn't have to think about anything except having fun--and we did!!! It was definitely the best day of our lives by far. Everything was perfect that day, including the weather! No matter how long and hard you try to visualize the day, it will be surreal and will just fly by. Afterward, looking back, I have some photographer/video complaints but my hall was wonderful, my band was all I expected and we've been getting rave complements! Even our cruise/honeymoon was awesome!! I saw my husband prior to the ceremony and though I had worried about that, little things like that just don't matter that day. Actually, I got so emotional when I saw him that I was glad there weren't so many people around--it was our personal moment--although captured by the photog... And believe me, there were still plenty of tears around for the ceremony!! If anyone ever wants advice or feedback, feel free to email me--it's a momentous occasion (one we'll hopefully never do again!) so we want to do it perfectly the first time. Good luck to everyone! Enjoy the time leading up to the wedding--no one tells us this, but after the wedding (a time no one ever thinks about!) it's just cooking, cleaning and working!!! No more gifts or cards or parties! So ENJOY IT!!

Just Married

Congratulations!!! I'm glad to hear you had such a wonderful time. By the time my fiance and I get married we'll be dating two weeks short of 9 years and we would have been officially engaged 16 months. It stinks though because I have to wait until next August for it to happen. :( Anyway, could you tell me about your honeymoon/cruise? Where did you go? How is a cruise? What vendors did you use? Melissa, I know how you feel, my fi & I will be going out just short of 10 years by our wedding next April. We decided to get married last summer and I thought it would never get here-but, unbelievable to me, it is already less than a year away.
