just need some cheering up :-(

hey guys... i could use a little cheering up tonight...
my fiance and i live 2 hours apart, and we each have jobs we LOVE where we are now. the wedding is in june, so needless to say one of has to leave our jobs. i'm a speech therapist at a school for special needs kids, and hes an engineer for the army. we decided awhile ago that since there are a lot more speech jobs available right now ( and since i want to stay home when we have kids in a few years) that i would be the one to get a new job and move.
it makes sense, but i'm just having such a hard time with it. i've gotten so close to the kids at work and there are 9 other speech therapists there who give lots of support to each other ( you usually don't find that many at one school). so its gonna be super hard for me to leave this job. and lets not even talk about my family i am super-close to my parents, and my aunts, uncles, and granmas have all lived less than an hour from me my whole life, so i'm used to seeing everybody a lot. i hate to think of my kids being 2 hours away from their grandparents, and me being 2 hours away from my parents as they start getting older and need extra help.... i don't know.... i'm so excited to be getting married and i love my FI and we already have a nice house near his job and hes got a group of friends from HS who are like brothers and sisters to both of us now... but i just can't stop thinking about what i'm leaving
sorry this is so long... just needed to vent. thanks for listening

I'm sorry, I don't know what to say to make you feel better except for the fact that I know you'll be SO happy with your DH, and you'll get through the changes together.

Is it possible for both of you to have a 1 hour commute? That way you could each keep your jobs - but just find a new place to live? Lisa

awww its okay. im actually moving to florida after our wedding (i'm from texas). we're going to have no family and no friends around us. I know it's going to be hard for a while, but they tell me that you get used to it.

Change is scary and change is eventual. 2 hours isnt the end of the world for you to commute to see your parents etc. Try not to worry about them becoming old and all of that today. Consentrate on enjoying your job day by day and looking foreward to the unknown... We dont know what that could be. Let yourself be sad . But let yourself celebrate you and the NEW LIFE as an adult that you have now with YOUR proposed family.Good Luck. Diana

It's very hard to adjust to a 'new life'... try not to think of how far away you are and remember that you are ONLY 2 hours away... rather then a plane ride or an 8 hour drive.

After we are married, FH and I are moving to NC with my mom... we'll both be leaving most of our families and all of our friends It's our decision and it's a tough one... but you have to do what is best for you and the rest will fall into place.

It'll be ok!!

This seems permanent right now, but lives of the other people in your life may change too. Your parents could move, or you could end up moving back in a few years because another oppy comes up. 2 hrs is not that bad. My parents are in AZ...that was really hard to deal with when they moved, but we see each other as much as we can.
