Just really need to vent re future in-laws (LONG)

My FMIL and FFIL really dont like me too much....i am not jumping to conclusions...this is really the truth (they tried to convince FH to call off the wedding, even saying that they dont think that i love him AND trying)

I dont know why they dont like me, but i can think of a few reasons....
1-we met at school in vermont, after school we moved to DC (so i took him away to the 'big city'

2- I am jewish, FH's fam is catholic (he is fairly non-practicing, but him fam is VERY practicing)

3-my parents are divorced?!?!? this one makes me the craziest!!

anyway, i did the right thing and asked FSIL to be a BM (her response..uh...sure)

FIL are barely making any contributions to the wedding (they offered our flight for HM and rehearsal dinner, that is it) I did the right thing and told them to TELL ME how many guests they are going to have (they wont, just want a #, but i want to make sure i a lot them enough)

FSIL hasnt even called to ask any other details since i asked her, i need to start ordering the BM dresses (she was the last one i asked) but i feel really bad just being like hey, i need some money for a dress you dont want for a wedding you dont even want to go to!...


UGH! sorry i just wanted to vent...i am just frustrated, and they are coming to visit soon, in AUGUST IN CD (remember they are from way north)...now they can just complain about one more thing.

At least FH backs me up on this...i just feel so bad, they are his PARENTS and I WANT THEM TO LIKE ME!!

hang in there, hopefully his parents will realize one day that if they dont want to lose their son they have to get over them not liking you...

I truly feel for you. In law troubles really can ruin all the happiness.

Just my own families story:

My dad's family really doesnt like my mom. Never did....if my grandfather lived a but longer things mightve changed b/c he liked her but he died a month after i was born.

I barely know my dad's family- after many fights, we just kinda seperated from them. So my dad chose my mom and his love for her over his own family.
its a hard choice for a person to make...I'm glad Im not in that situation cause I think my finace would choose his family (he is a La Familia!!!! kind of guy, blood is everything)

I wish you the best and hope that it never gets to where it got for me. Your future children deserve their dad's family!!!!

How long have you guys been together and did you at any time get along with them? You should confront them and ask them why they are so distant from you.

They arent really the type you confront...they would just think i was being rude. It is fine, i have been learning to deal with it. They live far anyway...
BTW we have been together for about 4 years. They have never been overly nice to me, just fake to my face...
