Okay, I just received a package, so I opened it! It's one of my place settings for my china!! I didn't take it out the wrapping, but I opened the UPS mailing box!! This is also from someone who is unable to attend the wedding.

Congratulations! Please don't feel badly for opening the gift. I think that if fine, just not using it is the key thing. I would send the person who sent it a thank you note so they know that you received it. Your wedding is almost here - woo hoo and congrats!

Seriously those that can't attend your wedding are really going above and beyond. I agree w/ the above post I would open the gift so that you can make the thank you more personable.

I already know what the gift is! It's one of the place settings of my China!! I will write a note this weekend. I still need to get thank you cards from the other people that sent me checks.
I need to double check my registry because I'm pretty sure that I put my parents address as the mailing address for gifts. My poor little apartment can barely hold all my DIY projects, let alone gifts!
Yeah, I'm really shocked at my friends and my mom's friends. But don't be fooled, I'm still dealing with many people who 'invited' a guest or two to my wedding. Plus I'm still missing about 100 RSVP when my reply date was May 15. These gifts are from the good people, I still have the bad and the ugly (those I need to call and tell them they can't bring 3 guests that I don't know)!
