I just said goodbye to FH who is leaving on deployment for 6-8 months. I feel like I just got kicked in the stomach. I so wish I had the ability to fast forward time.

i've been there on both ends and there's nothing easy about it. thank God for email, and just send lots of packages-you'll feel good doing it and he'll love getting them! and better for him to leave now and start getting it over with than later on in the year and delay the inevitable! my thoughts are with you as you miss your FH.

Because he on a submarine no packages can be sent. Their is e-mail which is very slow. It gets sent to a gov't server who reads it and if it meets approval it gets forwarded to FH. About a week goes by just to get one e-mail.

What the Navy does is they give a date before they deploy of when letters etc in bulk should be sent. You then write a date on the envelope of when they are to give it to the person. A couple of weeks ago Hallmark made a killing with me. I covered Easter, His birthday, and a bunch of in between dates.

sssooooo sorry to hear that. i will pray for him. if you dont mind me asking where is he being deployed to.

Thank God it's not to the middle East. He navigates a submarine, and is being sent to South America (mainly Columbia).

oh ok, im glad to hear he isnt going to the middle east. my cousins husband is coming back from irqa this saturday. he's been deployed 3 times over there. after he comes back this weekend they said that he will be back in the states for at least 3 years, unless he is really needed. i will keep your fh in my prayers

Aw, honey, I had to do this in January, so I know how you feel. My FH is in the navy, and putting him on that ship is one of the hardest things I've had to do. But if it makes you feel any better, the time is going by somewhat quickly (he's back in July) and we get to email very often. I'm also in touch with the other wives in his squadron which is also helpful. If you need a shoulder or to vent to someone in a similar situation, feel free to FM me!
