Hello All, We just set a date...10/13/07. I'm probably a little older (OK...a lot older) than most of of you and don't know anything about planning a wedding. Does anyone have comments/thoughts on the George Washington Manor or Westbury Manor? They both have rooms for small weddings. Thanks.

Congratulations!
Both places are beautiful. My FH's dad got married at George Washington Manor and it was perfect for a small wedding and food was great.

I've been to Westbury Manor for a wedding (it was the large room) and it was very nice. The VH was great too.

Re: Just set a date
Hi there. I looked at both places and a few more for a real small wedding (guarantee of 60). Both are nice. I think GWM is a little darker looking and prefer Westbury. But there too you would probably be upstairs which has alot of wood - - if you like that. What is nice there is the cocktail hr is in I believe the library and one of the rooms has a balcony to go outside. I think you are limited in the use of the grounds if you have the upstairs. We also looked at Captain Bill's which is somewhere around Bayshore I think and the Irish Coffee Bar in Islip and finally decided on Larkfield Manor (in E. Northport). All rates were close but I think Larkfield threw in a few more extras. You might want to check the others too if you don't mind traveling to Suffolk.

We booked with the westbury manor. We have the manor room thought. They have great food!!! Definetly go and eat at the resturant. Also We chose WM cause of the grounds. They have beautiful gardens and we wanted a outdoor CH so thats why we fell in love with the place.

Re: Just set a date
Welcome! I checked out the Westbury Manor and thought it was beautiful. My BF had her wedding at the GWM and loved it. Unfortunately I was unable to attend b/c I was in China for business but everyone said they had a good time.

Congrats!
Both should be lovely & have a outdoor component. You should check out to see if those dates are available at those venues. Fall sells out fast. Also, find out WHERE the cocktail hour will be if there are multiple events.
Personally, I love Westbury. My cuz got married there: it was beautiful & I almost booked.
