...to double check to see if our priest needed anything else from us....and they told me the church 'donation' fee went up $200....Argh!!!
I didn't want to argue with a priest...I didn't feel right arguing with him lol. But yeah, I even said that we were first told 'x' amount and we shouldnt of had to pay the higher amount....but yeah. We do.
oh that is so not cool!

That happened to me with my 1st marriage. The priest called me a few weeks before and told me it went up $150.00 And when I asked him when it went up he told me 9 months before. I told him that I dont have that extra $150 in my budget and then the nerve of this man told me well I am sure you are having the party afterwards- take something away from that!!!I told him you have no idea what I am having afterward and I think you are out of line saying that to me and hung up on him!
I feel for you- I cant stand the way the church goes about things sometimes!!

I understand that- but they can let you know before a few weeks before your wedding. That was my biggest problem with it. I know prices go up but why not let the person know when it happens.

I understand that- but they can let you know before a few weeks before your wedding. That was my biggest problem with it. I know prices go up but why not let the person know when it happens.
The church has been the biggest thorn in my side! Such pains!
I completely understand that this is also a business for the church....I have no issues with that whatsoever. The issue that I have is when I call the priest and asks if he needs anything else from me for the the rehearsal he says, 'Oh btw - the donation amount increased and you will have to pay this new amount'. I mean, I havent been notified AT ALL before this (and this is now less than 3 weeks before my wedding). It upsets me because when I booked the church I was booked with the lower amount and that they aren't honoring that lower amount. Kinda like a breach of contract, ya know?

I love how they call it a 'donation'. It's a fee!!! A donation is whatever you can afford, not a minimum told to you by the Priest.
Same thing happened to me.....I thought it was ridiculous as well!
