Ok girls... I think I've postponed this as long as I could. And I know I have to get cracking on getting the dress and it could take a little while to find it.
Any suggestions for stores to visit? I'm willing to travel anywhere on the Island and in Manhattan.
The few places I'm planning on are:
Adriennes (Islip) Bridal Suite of Bayshore Kleinfeld (NYC)
I guess I'm aiming to order it by the end of April, but I can only go to the stores on weekends! Any suggestions (or warnings) would be helpful.
Thanks!

Re: Just starting the dress search! HELP!
Only speaking from my experiance (since other people can disagree) for the Bridal Suite - try to get an early morning appointment if you can on the weekends. There aren't a lot of brides-to-be or bridesmaids trying on things so it is a bit calmer. I tried things on at their earliest appointment and by the time I left (3 hours later) it was total chaos. I had gone back the week after with my MOH at like 3 PM, and it was chaos. Though the people there are nice.
Of course if you like chaos and lots of people then ignore my post.

I went to 16 Bridal Salons and bought the first dress that I tried on at Kleinfeld. I highly recommend going there.
Good luck!

I'm biased, but I'd recommend Kleinfeld's...I got my gown there and they have been a pleasure to work with. No matter how busy they are, you get the attention you need there. You need an appointment though.

I ended up getting my dress at Paradise Bridal in Patchogue. They have a huge selection, incl. MOB,BM,tuxes,FG. We're also getting the BM dresses there, and we get 10% off b/c I ordered mine there! If you go, ask for Josephine F.- she's great!

Re: Just starting the dress search! HELP!
I got my gown at Adriennes and I dealt with the owner who was WONDERFUl to work with...they did say my gown would be in November and it didnt come in until January...but I ordered the feb '05 and my wedding is not until july, so although I was panicky there really was nothing to worry about

Re: Just starting the dress search! HELP!
my experience:
Priscilla of Boston (Roslyn) - I got my dress here. They were great - sat down and actually listened to what I liked. Very patient. I worked with Dina who is currently on maternity leave, but Michelle is great too.
Bridal Couture (Manhasset) - if you're looking for a big selection AND personal attention, this is your place. However, I found them to be a little pushy. They have trunk shows a lot and can mix and match parts of different dresses to create a semi-custom dress, which I thought was pretty cool. I worked with Darlene. I didn't like her.
Bridal Reflections (Carle Place) - I got my bridesmaids dresses here. i walked through the bridal part and it looked beautiful. My experience here - although not for myself - was good. At the very least, I'd go here when you're ready for BM dresses. They had good prices.
Lilette's (Baldwin) - Many LIW girls love this shop, but I didn't have the greatest experience. I was rushed through the dresses and I was not given any assistance when dressing....that was particularly a problem for me since I was there with my dad. But again, lots of girls love that shop and their prices are good.
