Who the original and who do you have now?

Here's the story why and tell me if I am wrong....

We originally booked a photo/video team. I always wanted both of them booked together because they work better together and nobody steps on anyones toes. LOVED the video guy, was IFFY about photo cause he was older and more set on his ways (more formals/portraits). We went back and forth with him a lot to discuss the photography I wanted (more modern/photojournalistic style). Long story short we booked them as a team....FWR 5 months and I find out they split. ON BAD TERMS. I met with my video guy and we're talking about the wedding and I asked him what happened and he said personality differences. He said the 2nd photographer that this guy got is very stobborn and gets in the way of video. I started to get worried. He suggested someone for us if we were interested in switching...someone we met before because we didn't want two different teams....I met with the other photo guy last night and we clicked....I feel bad that I am leaving this photographer so late in the game. He is elderly and I feel like I am letting him down, but at the same time I was worried about my wedding pics and not getting what I want.....am I the worst person in the world now. I felt so bad to make that call.

you should send them a certified letter so you have proof they can delete the vm and then youre responsible if they show up... etc...

you made the right decision.

sadly, i speak from experience. i booked a photog and had my doubts about them from day 1 .... i even voiced my concerns with them and was reassured that they could and would do everything i wanted ... 1 month pre-wedding i was SERIOUSLY considering switching but i felt guilty about it ... after the wedding, when i got my photos from them, i HATED them (i was missing a lot of what i asked for, and the pics looked extremely unprofessional) ... i wish i listened to my gut and switched when i wanted to.

and don't feel bad - it's business - this photog you 'dumped' should understand.

Long story... he was sued and then he was on the news... i got an FM from someeone telling me that he was going to be on the news for not producing an album... .

so i asked him about it and he seemed to be totally honest with me... and i actually defended him.. and then more things like that kept popping up...

... the final straw was him asking me for money when my balance wasnt due until right before the wedding, when i said no... he said if you send it now that hed give me extrasss bla bla blah... and i kept saying no... i didnt budget to give it to him then... and then he finally was honest and said he wanted the money because he was going away for the weekend...

so i spoke with another poster here who is a lawyer and she said for me to cancel via certified letter so that i was backed up if anything happened....

you did the right thing

it is your wedding and your photos, you only get one shot at it!

I switched my photographer almost a year after booking. He did nothing wrong, takes great pictures and is extremely popular, but we were looking for something different. It is YOUR wedding. As bad as you may feel, you have to remember that your happiness with your photos is MORE important than the photographer's feelings.

You absolutely did the right thing.
