A guy I worked with waited to the last minute and his wife expects them like clockwork every V-day and he paid over $100!!!
I would feel so bad if my FH spent that much on flowers (I know he bought me candy, I accidentally foudn that, he didn't hide it in a good spot - a drawer that he wanted me to put laundry away in).

That is insane...by the end of the week they will be back to their normal prices. I like getting flowers other than roses on V-day, last year FI got me an arrangement of tulips and iris's, very pretty.

I love getting flowers on valentine's day!
Valentine's Day and our anniversary are the 2 days I know I'm gonna get flowers and i really look forward to it!

We get our roses at Shoprite and usually they are $7/dozen. Saturday we bought them and they were $12.99! I thought that was horrible how they jack up the prices.
But DH said that it's better than spending $100 on them through a florist and he's right.
It's insane. That's why we didn't pick a Valentine's Day wedding date. We went two weeks after.

It's not even completely that they jack it up... I mean they do, because they can, bt there's actually so much demand that they're harder to even get from the growers at that point....it's crazy!

That's why I LOVE Proflowers.com...DH and I don't celebrate V-Day and I'm not into roses (sunflowers for me!) but their prices are about the same as always...

I agree, I tell DH not to get them for me on V-day, because it's so cliche.....get me flowers another day just because you love me....

Two weeks ago proflowers.com had 2 dozen for $40. Now they are $40 for one dozen and a small box of chocolate. Still not tooooo bad, but I'd still rather a quite dinner for just the two of us.
