Just trying to be helpful
Hi Girls,
I haven't posted here in a while, but I just want to try to help out other girls so they don't have to go through what my husband and I went through. This is in no way meant to scare anyone if they already booked with the vendor I'm about to mention, I'm just trying to give you a heads up.
My husband and I booked with V E L V E T S T U D I O S for our photographer because we heard wonderful things about them. When we went for the initial appointment, Bob was very nice and helpful and his work was beautiful. Our e-pics came out great, our video is fantastic, and our wedding proofs were gorgeous. Our album came out beautiful too. However, my husband and I got married July 2008 and we did not receive the final album until February 2010.
Getting our album, along with our parents' albums, was an absolute nightmare. We were originally told that we would receive our album 6 months after the proofs were submitted. We submitted our proofs January 3, 2009. Also, when I went to pick up the video in April 2009, Bob wrote on a receipt that we would get the albums in August 2009. August came around and there was still no albums. Meanwhile, I received several e-mails from one of their designers in May that stated our albums would be ready on time. My husband also was in touch with the designer about our albums and he was told the same thing. When our 1 year anniversary came and went and there were still no albums, my husband called several times one week going back and forth with different people, and he was getting a different story about the status of our albums each time. So, I decided to call, and I had to call 3 times to get a hold of them because no one ever called me back after I left messages. I spoke to Bob about the situation and he said he would get back to me after he spoke to his designer. Five hours later, there was still no call, so I called back. I spoke to Bob again, and I explained to him that both myself and my husband contacted the studio several times within the past week and we were getting different stories. I asked Bob how it was possible that each person said something different, and he began to yell at me! Yes, he actually began yelling at me over the phone! Naturally, I started raising my voice and told him that I was the customer, how dare he speak to me that way. And, I never once raised my voice to him, I was very nice throughout the entire thing. He was so unprofessional it was disgusting. My husband ending up calling him since I was very upset, and he 'apologized' to my husband. He never ever contacted me to apologize to me for going on a screaming, childish rant.
We finally ended up getting our album layout online and the order of the pages was wrong. My husband and I sent at least 5 e-mails to one of their designers with the correct order, because she couldn't seem to get it right. After we were assured that the designer understood the order of the pages, we finally received the actual album, and the page order was wrong! So now after waiting for over a year for our album, it was wrong. So we had to wait 2 more months for the album to be fixed. My husband and I went to the studio to pick up our album. Bob was there, and was still unprofessional. Not once did he come up to my husband and I to apologize for any of the incident that occurred. He had someone help us during our visit. I guess he has the nerve to yell at women over the phone, but he doesn't have the courage to speak to me face to face.
After this happened to me, I contacted one other 2008 bride who I knew had booked Bob to ask her what her opinion was on Bob. She told me that she actually cancelled Bob because her husband and her were not crazy about their e-pics, so when they contacted Bob to thank him for his time but cancel, he started to scream at them!
Ladies, like I said, I am in no way trying to scare anyone in case you are booked with this photographer, but I just wanted to warn you so you and your husbands do not go through what my husband and I went through. Try and get everything he says in writing! Good luck!
