I understand we are getting married in 4 months and right now things are too hectic to be concentrating on studying... He graduated college 6 years ago with his bachelors in Architecture. He still has not gone for his test to become an RA (Registered Architect). He says it's a 9 part test and each part cost a couple to a few hundred dollars... anyway, I am just annoyed that he has not taken care of this before we get married.. you know? I mean he tells me he will concentrate on taking the test after we get married..I just hope he does because I want him to be a better provider for a family evenutally.. is this so wrong of me to want this for him (us)?

No, it's not. I think you just want what's best for both of you, and you want him to realize his full potential. Nothing wrong with that.

I mean is this something I should be worried about?

I don't know - I think that's something you could really only know after a good heart to heart with him about it. You should explore with him why he's been putting it off, not just now, but before you got engaged - I think you said it's been 6 years - and find out if he's really committed to doing it and to this career, and if not, what then. Is he afraid of something, or not really into it, or is really just the money and time and hectic-ness of what's going on in your lives right now? I think it's an important thing to talk about and think about, but I can't determine whether you should be really worried. But I do think you should approach him about it in a calm and mature fashion to get behind what's going on.

I met him in 2003 he graduated in 2000. So this has been something he has been putting on the back burner since before I met him apparently.. I never really started mentiong it to him until last year.. when we got engaged. When I do bring it up he gets very defensive and it turns into an argument. Now I am being faced with comments from my dad and mom and others about him and being able to provide for a family.. and when is he going to step up to the plate on this subject.. It's really getting to me. They make it out to be like he's some big slacker when in fact he is a very good hard worker and makes a very good salary.. just not what he would be making if he were registered!
