So just found out that my last day will be 12/31/11. So sad and nervous. We are being taken over my another company. At least it's not now one other girl her last day is this Friday! They suck. They require people to give them two weeks notice but didn't give her two weeks. Last day is 6 days before our wedding. Ugghhhhhh.

It's the most stressful thing to be laid off, especially when you have things like a wedding to be paying for. I was laid off, no notice, actually had security reps and locksmiths come to our building within 2 hrs of a conference call, a week after we got engaged. It's a tough time out there but everything happens for a reason and you'll find something that'll definitely be better.
To try to brighten yourself up - think of it this way. That gives you almost a whole week to relax and focus on last minute wedding things before your big day! Those 6 days off will be a nice time to spend with out of town guests, finalizing things and getting pampered!

Thank you everyone. I am a little depressed. I work in the mental health field. The economy is so bad and so many grants have not been renewed. I have wanted to go back to school for some time. I am going to take this 'opportunity' to go to school while at least some money is coming in. Still going to miss my co-workers so much.

I know the feeling all too well. I was laid off in July and my fiance just lost his job recently also, so we have to postpone our wedding since we're paying for everything ourselves. At least you'll have some time to unwind the week before your wedding. The job market is bad, but keep the faith. I know I am. Definitely take advantage of the time if you really want to go back to school - go for it. Best of luck to you on your big day.
