I'm always happy to be! (And especially so to be a New Yorker!) But I was watching the news last night. And there are so many terrible things going on (as usual.)

People live in extreme poverty, sickness, without freedoms to live as they choose. It's crazy.

That makes me feel fortunate, not necessarily proud. We've done our share of causing the awful situations in other countries

Right. Theres nothing wrong with feeling proud. I just feel like we
re just more fortunate than anything, and that as a nation we could do a lot more to be proud of both at home and globally.

We also give more money to other countries than any other country in the world.

With all due respect ladies, I did not post this to start a debate. I am very well aware of the atrocities that go on in this country, as well as reasons for things going on in other countries.

I was having a moment last night--feeling very in tune to what the history of America is all about and glad that I am able to live here. Freely. (That's it!)
