So sweet of you to think of me!!! : )

Things are going well - too well. I think I've missed something. (?) I think I've got everything done...except earrings & packing for the honeymoon. Not big items...

My biggest issues are getting rid of this cold (thanks Paul!) and dealing with the bouts of dizziness I get from time to time (too much stress with work & the wedding).

My words of wisdom would be-- wear a good foundation LOL!! It sounds silly but the right base can make pictures, make sure they put enough color on you. Ummm other than that I can't think of anything--I'm sure it will be incredible. We already know The Milleridge will be fantastic ;)~ Just cherish every moment--the day goes too damn fast!!! I hope your day is perfect..Good Luck Gina

Karen Are you feeding your vendors? I know they are 1/2 price --one of our vendors remembers being fed different food at the cottage--do you have any idea about this? Are you having children at the reception? We are having 90 kids and dont want to spend hundreds on chicken fingers-- trying to negotitate something with them Is your cocktail hour with chairs and tables or standing?

Here are my answers:

Yes we are feeding our vendors - we have 4. They will be eating the same as us - and we will be charged 1/2 price for each of their plates.

Thanks! How does it feel? I'm tired. :-) ...and looking forward to a big party! : )

And since I have a pretty demanding job I'm having a hard time letting it all go for 2 weeks - esp b/c there is so much left to do. Tomorrow is my last work day.

I still have errands to run. We've got the rings but still need to write our vows (tonight's homework).

yes that helps-- I forgot about the Carriage House Our issue is that our band is 9 people plus 2 photo and a videographer- so that is 12 vendors and even at 1/2 price that is close to $1000-- so we are still trying to figure something out--plus when you add the kids--that is expensive chicken fingers!!! Can't wait to hear how your day goes---godd luck with the last minute details Laura Glad to hear about the bathroom

Hi! I'm looking for dirt on Brentwood Country Club. Is it awesome or cheesy? Good for an outdoor reception? Any stories? Thanks! Timerie

Milleridge/Various Questions

They are expensive - but you're also paying for the food, the appetizers, cake, salad, the extra dessert & cookies, cocktail, the wait staff, the room rental.

$93 is also a lot for feeding an adult too - esp when its not filet migon and lobster. When you think of it that way, its not so bad. All things are relative.

I can't make a decision & I feel a bit disconnected. Is this normal?

Milleridge/Various Questions

I wish we were paying $93-- with tax and tip we are at $127 p/p---and we budget for $100-- not too good at budgeting!!! and our list is at 260 or so right now--so it is def adding up -- but it will all be worth it in the end-- Laura

Brides and Grooms - We have enough to worry about, stop the bickering on this site. We are suppose to help each other. If you don't like someone's advice just read and move on.

Just my opinion. But I think a lot will agree.

One of the reasons we got married in March was for the discount. (10% off the regular list price)

For a Sat Night wedding its costing us 72.90 + tax & tip. And in the carriage house, its a 75 person minimum (we're having 92 people)

That is great-- we went with the 2 star and added the viennese--so that is what added to our price--we thought about March as well but the timing didnt work-- are you hanging in ?? Laura

Ladies and Gentlemen,

As some of you remember, Mark and I "got it on" on this site some months ago. What this means now, is that we can all learn a lot. We vendors, should never lose sight of the fact that the Brides are calling the shots, and rightfully so. Regardless of the actual dollars, they are all spending their limit on this beautiful day. We should either respect that or find another line of work.

Laura - Milleridge/Various Questions

Hi

I saw that you are using the Milleridge. When is your wedding? We just decided to book there for March 2001. It will be a Saturday afternoon affair. Any info you can pass along would be helpful. Thanks. I think it will be beautiful. I especially like that there is alot of room for dancing and also if people want to talk in the Atruim area during the reception they can. I am dealing with Lesley

Laura - Milleridge/Various Questions

We are getting married 4/28/01 Dealing with Nadine-- we wanted to have sat afternoon(well after we saw the prices) but ended up with Sat night There are quite a few Milleridge brides on here--with a lot of good suggestions/ideas--I fell in love with the atrium you can see pictures through cassarinostudios.com of the cottage and i have an atrium shot on my website as well www.laurajeremy.homestead.com/home.html I have heard that the florist is high priced-- we went to see about upgrading our centerpieces(1/2 dozen) and got a ridiculous price--but we haven't gone anywhere else yet Heard the baker does a great basket weave--which is what we want Have you picked a photographer/band/dj yet? Laura

My sister ordered the bridesmaids dresses from them when she got married a year and a half ago. They made us wait a long time before we could look at dresses( even with an appointment.) It was a hassle to get a fabric sample from them but, the dresses came in plenty of time before the wedding.

They tried to order a dress that was two sizes too large for me (I know the dresses run small but give me a break I'm not that stupid). I had to insist on them ordering the size I wanted. Luckily I was right, otherwise the alterations necessary would have been like making a new dress. I think they did that to try to get more money by making it a plus size dress.I ended up having my dress altered elsewhere because they wanted to do the first fitting the week of the wedding.

Laura - Milleridge/Various Questions

Thanks for the info on the florist. Our wedding is 3/17/01 St Patrick's Day which my fiancee is coincidentally 100% Irish. We loved the Milleridge atruim, fireplace & all hardwood floors. Plus there is no way out guests will be crammed in - I hate that and wouldnt subject people to it. We were able to guarantee 150 with no room fee for the whole cottage but can obviously go much higher on the guest list (he wants alot more than 150!) We have not booked anything else yet other than the church (St Kevins in Bayside). I also loved that the colors were so neutral at Milleridge (I didnt care for some of the color schemes at other places)...I guess next is the DJ or band..So far so good on the plans

I've been to several sites in Long Island and Queens and I have to tell you it's a toss up b/w The Coral House and The Douglaston Manor. The Coral House has very good food, we went for a taste test and fell in love. We also walked the grounds and they were pretty clean and well taken care of. As for the rooms we were a bit iffy on them because we are not having that many guest and the rooms they offered were small. Although we may not meet the required 100 even if we have 90 I feel the room they suggested will not comfortably fit all of our guest. The banquet manager Neil was very pleasant, cooperative and patient w/ us. Your in good hands I checked them out w/ the BBB and they have an excellent report. The best of Good Luck! Let us know how everything turned out.

Laura - Milleridge/Various Questions

Hi Laura What day does your wedding Fall on? My minimum is 175 on a Sunday afternoon. Just curious Yes I love the Milleridge. I am getting married 9/17/00 in the Cottage.

I don't know if this helps but if you purchased the dress with a credit card you can contact your credit card company explain the situation and they will usually credit back your account and then get their money back from the wedding center. It might be worth looking into if this is how you paid.
