kathi, michele, and all w/?s about interfaith welcoming ceremony

hi there-

According to how it was descibed to me...our ceremony will begin with the cantor. He will address the group and describe the history behind the prayers he will utter. Then he will perform his ceremony. I am not too sure about the intimat details about this other than Julianne will also be given a Hebrew name during this ceremony. Then the priest will come in and address the group. He will then perform his ceremony- along the lines of a christening- where she will be blessed with Holy Water.

We will have two Godparents- only one of them MUST be Catholic. We are basing our choice on someone we feel close to, who may need to feel more tied into our family, and who will be PRESENT in her life. TO us, we had the perfect two picked, but they are both Jewish. (We do not want to exclude one religion in perference for another- but these 2 fit our bill as to our beliefs in general) But since one person had to be CAtholic, I had to look hard and long at another choice.
As I have not asked this person yet, I cannot share who it is...and I am really not sure how it will go...altho my fingers are crossed that they will be great!

will take place on a sunday...this will allow those guests that are jewish and observant to still attend the ceremony.

Thats it for now!
