Kauai hotel question

Kauai hotel question

The Hyatt will be under construction and the Princeville is booked although the TA is still trying. I did a search and most people stayed at one of those two hotels. Any other suggestions? She suggested the Sheraton.

Tammy,
I stayed at the Hyatt too, but look into these (my TA and a few friends had recommended them:
1-Hanalei Bay Resort - same location as the princeville
2- Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club
3- Poipu Kapili Resort
4- Whaler's Cove

Supposedly the Kauai Hyatt- only sections of the hotel are going to be under construction- so that you may not notice it.

Re: Kauai hotel question

It starts in April 2003 and continues throughout the year, I'm going June 6th, so I changed to the Princeville. The Sheraton is another good option.

Re: Kauai hotel question

I booked the Sheraton, and last month, they were running a sale and they give free one category upgrade for honeymooners. Check to see if the sale is still running.

Re: Kauai hotel question

Leap29, aren't you going in September?
The Hyatt will be starting the roof renovations of the Anara Spa in September, FYI...........

Re: Kauai hotel question

If its the spa that is being renovated, get a room by the pool and you won't even notice. The spa is at one extreme end of the property...

Re: Kauai hotel question

True, It's a concern for me, b/c I wanted to spend the majority of my time there in the spa, so that's why I switched, having the spa available was very important to Len and me.

Re: Kauai hotel question

Here's the reply from a rep at Kauai:

Lizabeth,

Thank you for your e-mail. Please let me clear up some of the
information that is being provided on the extent of the renovations at
the hotel.

We are planning to begin a roof re-tile and a room renovation project
the last week of March, 2003. These projects will not close nor hamper
any of the facilities on property.

The Anara Spa's roof is not scheduled to begin until mid September at
the earliest and the building painting is already complete.

The renovation in March we hope is as inconvenient on the guests as
possible. We are using electric cranes instead of diesel cranes to
eliminate all the noise. The work will be done from the back side of
the building so the pool and ocean views will not be effected. Any
rooms that are in the area of the work will be placed out of order so
that it will not inconvenience the guests as well.

The Hyatt Maui is complete with their room remodel and I believe are
scheduled to be done in the next few months on the work they are doing
on 1/2 of their pool.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if you have any
additional questions.

Aloha

My FH and I are looking to HM in Maui and Kauai as well. Can you please let me know what your packages include when you book. Also the cost and who your travel agents are?

Re: Kauai hotel question

I really want to hm in Hawaii. I would be going next Dec. Do you think the majority of the construction at the Hyatt would be done by then? What about the Marriot there? FH has tons of Marriot points? Do you think 5k for 12 days including meals and flight is about right?

Re: Kauai hotel question

We stayed at the Marriott and loved it. We had enough points to stay in one of the vacation club suites and we had an ocean and pool view (plus an enourmous bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, seperate shower and a dining and living room). It is a gorgeous, secluded hotel with a nice beach and good restaurants on the property. Plus, I've heard they are building a new Mariott closer to Poipu. It's on the Club web site. It's definitely worth checking out.

This is the view from the bed in our room.
