keeping it in prespective, a short story

keeping it in prespective, a short story

So apparently on the news a few days ago there was a Dutch bride who thought it would be funny to say 'I Don't' instead of 'I do' during her vows.

She said it as a joke, and then was planning on saying 'I DO' but apparently They have very strict rules against forced marriages in the Netherlands and so the priest refused to continue. They had to send their guests home (they booked a castle for the reception). Then they had to get another marriage license, wait 2 days or something, then try again.

Imagine all that money lost. My FH said if that was us he would have punched the priest in the nose (which I don't recommend).

I guess worse things can happen than my florist bringing skimpy flowers. I felt alot better after that news story. So I thought I'd share

Wow. That's awful.

I have to say that my sense of humor is firmly intact, and even I would never, EVER think a joke like that would be funny.

But to each his own. I don't think it was fair not to continue the ceremony, though! Sheesh!

I was just thinking that as well....I wouldnt ever even dream of making a joke like that during such a sacred moment.

I kind of feel like she deserved that

my DOC told me a similar story about a wedding she was working at.

The groom was kidding around and said something like 'ah i dont know' and the priest closed his book and said, 'see you in 24 hours, i cant perfom the cermony now. It is on camera that you haddoubts and I could lose my license if i continued with the ceremony'

Luckily she told the story in front of FH, so he knows not to do that....
