Keeping My Fingers Crossed - Updated

Dh and I found a house that we love. There is currently already a bid in from another person but we are putting our bid in tommorow!!
I have everyone I know keeping good thoughts and praying for us!!
I am freaking out about the whole thing. We have not evenj put our house on the market yet!! Guess better get to it!!

What is up with people these days?

Dh and I are in Florida and the house is in NY. So we called a NY RE agent that we have been dealing with and he looks into the prop we are intersted in and informs us there is already an offer on the table from someone else, but it has not been accepted yet, we have time to bid as well.
Then this agent tells us that if the offer goes through he has something on his listing that is almost identical if we want to take a look.
A friend of ours who is in the area, went to check out the neighborhood for us, and then called the listing agent as if he was a prospective buyer. He made an appt for this Sat. He then asked could he wait that long, as he was interested and did not want to lose out, the listing agent then informed him that there has not been any bids made on the house as of yet since it went on the market. Less than a handful of people have gone to look. W T F???????????????
What is the purpose behind these 2 stories? And who am I supposed to believe now?
We are waiting until our friend's appt on Sat to place our bid. So the drama continues!

I am sorry to hear of all the BS they are putting you through, we live in NY and one of our RE agents tried pulling the same thing on us (I think it was because we insisted on seeing a home that was a little out of our price range and she knew we had just started looking at the time...The owners wanted to sell ASAP and as they put it: 'we're not going to take a penny under what they were asking!!')!!! (the house is still for sale! and that was in December..) May i ask you who your agent is and what town your looking in?? I can keep my eyes open for you and i know a good deal about certain areas...

The only thing i can think of is that the person wants to sell it quick and this RE agent thinks that all the paperwork would be easier if you were in NY ...I could be wrong.. Maybe you would want to get a buyers broker so you get someone who works for you...
