Keeping Negatives???
Hi Ladies,I have a question. I was all excited that I was getting my negatives in my package (with Cassarino Studios) but if I'm right aren't they copyrighted?? Now that I have had time to think about it I see that I'm not gonna be able to do diddly squat with the negatives unless I want reprints from the actual studio. I just wanted to go to like CVS and make a gazillion copies for everyone for the **** amount of $$$$$ I'm paying for them. Any suggestions???????

Oh my God, I think someone edited my post. I didn't have those astericks (***) in my post. Weird!!!

Re: Keeping Negatives???
I think if they hand the negatives over to you then they also give you the rights to copy them right? Why else would they give you those otherwise?Just make sure you store those in a safe place. assuming cassarino doesn't keep a copy - they will be the only you have for the rest of your life.

Re: Keeping Negatives???
If you do want to make reprints from the negative or from an actual picture. My cousin, when she got married, she wanted to give some extra shots to some people and didnt want to spend a fortune. What she did was,shw went to this place in Garden City Park, right on Jericho Turnpike in the Waldbaums shopping center. They reprinted her pictures for her. She did not have the negatives and the pictures were copyrighted. i dont want to get them in trouble, but the pictures came out really good. Some small photo shops would still make copies for you, I'm sure.

Re: Keeping Negatives???
My negatives are copyrighted as well but my photographer gave me a letter to be able to copy them, stating that I am the owner of them. No where I went to get them copied asked for the letter.

Re: Keeping Negatives???
Usually, you cannot just go to any store to get your pictures re-printed from the negatives anyway. Most photographers use a larger negative than what you get when you use 35mm film (gives better quality) so you usually have to go to a studio or a photoshop to get them re-printed.

Re: Keeping Negatives???
Thanks ladies, you gave me some good ideas. The proofs look like regular pics so I'm sure I could take those to like the CVS machine but I don't think I'm going to be able to do much with the negatives. THANKS!!

Re: Keeping Negatives???
I agree with Sonicstef...The negatives are one of a kind...storing them properly is extremely important. But not only that, you wouldn't want to bring them to just any shop - you would want to bring them to a professional lab/studio, not just because they may be the only ones who can help you, but they are the only ones I would personally trust to do anything with them. I thought it was great at first that I could buy my negatives, but then I read an article discussing it and I'm still glad, but a little nervous to store them and reprint from them. Good luck!

Re: Keeping Negatives???
Curly - Those Kodak machines work great. I made 5X7's from some of my proofs. I also made my thank you photos from a proof by copying it 4up on the Kodak machine and then having that copy reproduced on photo paper on a color copier at Kinkos. It saved me a ton of money.

Re:What machine let's you use it???
I have tried, CVS, Walgreen's and Genovese to use on of the machines to get my proofs enlarged and once they see it's a professional photo they will NOT do it.
