Hi! We got the contract copies signed by both parties and now what happens? We just wait I guess? When do they tell you the definite closing date? They said on or about June 1st to us.

Hey Karissa-
We dont have a set closing date yet either!
Have you contacted your bank yet? Make sure that your lawyer sends a copy of your contract to the bank, they will review it and then send you the paperwork
This is what ours did but we were preapproved with them too so they already had our SS#s and things like that! The paperwork came to us basically filled out!

I would contact your bank that you are planning on using and ask them the next step. We were told that as soon as we got the paperwork to them that it would be 30-45 days before closing! We were ahead of schedule but ran into some gliches so we are probably right on track for a June 1st closing right now! However teh way the contracts work is that your closing can be anywhere from May 1-July 1 if you have a June 1 closing on your contract.

I will keep you updated as to where we are, I know a bunch of us have the same approximate closing dates!

Thanks so much! The mortgage guy said everything was sent to the bank so we are waiting to hear from him now. I would just love to know the exact closing date. I'll keep in touch. He said we are ahead of schedule also.

Just make sure you keep in touch with them. See if they have done the appraisal yet and how it turned out. We had some issues with this and had to fight with the bank to re-appraise! which they finally agreed to do.

Have you filled out your paper work regarding your assets and debts yet?
After they get that, if they didnt tell you already, find out if they know what back up materials they might need so you can get them together (ie, bank statements, pay stubs, past taxes etc)

I cant wait for it to be here! We jsut had our shower so we now have all this great stuff but no where to put it! I am hoping we close alittle early so we can redo the wood floors before we get married so we can move in once we get back form our HM! Too much to think about

Re: ~~Kelly9904~~

The bank orders the appraisal, after they get your paperwork, I think before it goes to the underwriter!

But our bank did a 'drive by' which is a-whole-nother post...but it really messed us up!
We fought with the bank and finally they agreed to do a full appraisal. Before they would do so we had to get our RE agent in there to fax over properties in our area comparable to our home that sold for more than we are paying! Its a long story but our RE agent said its been happening more and more b/c of these drive by appraisals!

Although it might be different in Nassau cty! We bought in eastern suffolk, property values arent quite as high as nassau but I dont know where you bought MrsTC.....

Re: ~~Kelly9904~~

It's in Middlesex County. More towards the Central part of NJ. About an hour commute to the city. I will post pics soon. What we got in NJ would go for over $400k in NY / LI....and we paid NO WHERE near that!!!
