Kick counts??

Kick counts??

I had my 1 hr glucose test last night - yum!! I was a bit nervous (ok, very), because I hadn't felt Peanut much at all during the day. To make me feel better, even though his/her HB was as strong as ever on the doppler, my Dr. gave me a sonogram. Thankfully, my baby is juuuuuust fine!!

Anywayyyyy, she mentioned something about kick counts. When laying down I should count the number of kicks. The problem is that I was so distracted watching Peanut that I didn't *listen* to what she said!! DH was too busy looking for the male appendage that he didn't pay attention either! Needless to say, he has no clue if he saw a penis...although he did say 'that baby looks huge!!'. Thanks, dear.

Uh, getting to my question - does anyone know how many kicks I should count and in what period of time??

Re: Kick counts??

I think it's confusing. I've read 10 kicks in and hour and also 10 kicks in 10 hours, so don't know which is true. My MW gave me a sheet on this. I'll let you know what it says from home.

As far as I know, it's 10 kicks in an hour, but only during the third trimester...sometimes earlier on the movements are there but you can't feel them as well.

All I know is that my little one is the squirmiest, kickiest thing I know!!! With just about 7 weeks to go, I can count 10 movements in about 5 minutes!!

Glad your sonogram was good!!

Kathi, your DH is too funny!!!! Glad to hear everything is going really well!!!

What flavor did you have? I had to have that when I first went for all my bloodwork because my father is a diabetic, and I had the disgusting orange one that tastes like Sunkist! Not looking forward to having to do that again!!!!

How exciting it must be to feel the baby kicking!! I can't wait to feel that!!!

Nina: Let me know what your paperwork says! 10 in an hour sounds familiar...??

Lee: Future gymnast, maybe?! My baby usually moves enough to entertain me, but yesterday was a slow day!

Debbie: Yummy orange for me, too! It wasn't *so* bad. I only had to drink 1/2 the bottle - they told Steve he had to drink the rest! HEHE! (they were kidding, of course!)

JennRenee: Thanks!! It was such a relief (as always!) to see my beautiful bug waving!!

Thanks ladies!!

Re: Kick counts??

Okay, what I have says count how many hours it takes for your baby to 'move' (I think this is important, b/c I often feel the baby roll and just put pressure somehere but it's not a kick)
10 times and if it takes more than 10 hours for you to feel 10 movements, call your Dr.

But, my MW wrote on the side of the sheet count 10x in 1 hour, and now I remember that she told me she does it differently, but I'm not sure why....
